My Mum had one of those new about that time when dad built a new house at
East Gosford for us. Much easier than the copper she had before that which
had a fire under it, but in which she had boiled our nappies and all the
linen.
My Mum (now 90) still misses the electric copper and I well remember using
the copper up until 1988 when that house was sold. Mum also boasts that she
was one of the first in Gosford to actually buy a washing machine- would
have been just after the War and she was vilified by
Hi Everyone
I'm still searching for the Briggs family who lived at Tuggerawong reasonably recently.
I'm hoping to find anyone who has a connection to my grandfather Edward Goddard Briggs.
His wife was Phyllis Briggs who died in October 2001, her son Edward Francis, known as Frank who died in May 1998, and her daughter Sally who I assume is still alive. I would like to make contact with Sally as she is the only relative I have on this side of the family.
Many thanks

Hi all,
I hope 2007 is off to a good start for you all.
Anyone know anything about the ROSS family, particularly William Thompson
ROSS b. c1859 Brisbane Water NSW? He married Ann Rebecca BRAY in 1880
Newcastle and had the following children there.
- William Ernest b. c1881
- Annie Isabella b. 1882 d. 1952
- Donald H b. c1886
- George b. c1888
I think William Thompson ROSS' parents might have been Donald & Annie
according to NSW BDM (birth reg'd 1860 Gosford & matching death 1913
Wickham).

Hello Deb,
Can add only a little to your notes on the ROSS family at Brisbane Water,
NSW:
William ROSS was born on 14 Apr 1860 and baptised 8 June 1862. Parents were
Donald and Annie ROSS of Cockle Creek, father a shell gatherer (this
occupation was in connected with the white shells needed for lime making).
Mary Thompson ROSS was born 7 April 1862 and baptised on 8 June 1862 - same
day as her brother above (Church of England).
Reverend Alfred Glennie baptised four infants on that date at St Paul's

Hi Gwen,
Boy, am I glad I couldn't sleep last night & decided to join this list!
Thanks so much & for the photo too.
Annie Isabella had a girl in her 1st marriage (PETERS - not my line) who I
believe is an "Agnes A" (although called Ann according to her mothers death
certificate).... perhaps she was named after the child who died of burns.
Another hint for me that I am on the right track. Thanks!
Gee, I'm glad you said 'shell gatherer' and not 'labourer' (have lots of
those). Makes for something inter
