2. TERRIGAL Drive [1]
Hello All, Re Terrigal Drive: I think Liz will bear me out when I mention that the way to Terrigal was once via the Entrance Road (Tuggerah Road) and Willoughby Road which took the traveller to a bridge crossing one end of Terrigal lagoon. Today a modern bridge spans the water near the Scout Hall. Terrigal Drive as it is now called, was put through 1911-12, and cut quite a distance off the trip from Gosford to the ocean at Terrigal. Best regards, Gwen
3. Re: [ANCC] school photos Lisarow school [1]
Hi Vicki, I do have some photos from Lisarow school, but will have to scan them over the weekend. Not sure which year, but looking at my brother in-laws ages would say photos would be around 1951/52. Actually new owners of the General Store recently placed a 1933 photo of Lisarow school students in the local newspaper and right smack in the middle was my Father in-law, my husband and one of his brothers then went to the store and identified some of the kids in the photo and were also given a guided
4. Weekends at Terrigal [1]
Hi There have been some recent postings about Dr Paul and others of Gosford. It's interesting that this family, and others from there, had holiday houses at Terrigal. It was a thing for the well-to-do of Gosford to go to Terrigal for their weekends. Amongst the other families that did so were Fielder, Mason, White and Sterland. While today its only 10 minutes by car (without traffic holdups), it might have been half an hour then..... I'm talking about the 1910 - 1930 period. Liz P

7. GILCHRIST to Woy Woy [1]
I seem to remember someone asking if I had ever heard of a person rowing from Sydney to Brisbane Water. No, I hadn't, but came across the following just recently in The Gosford Times of Friday, 1 December 1911: "Mr B. He nearly met disaster when he collided with a browsing shark, which attacked the boat in a determined fashion. The

13. Re: [ANCC] Weekends at Terrigal [1]
Hi Marg & listers My 96 y-old aunt remembers the early Terrigal Drive and Entrance Roads around the time of the First World War. Then there was a basic punt bridge at East Gosford, and a corduroy road through the mangroves (West Erina area). The Davis boys had made the road in the late 1800's, by placing logs across the swamp track to enable it to be traversed by bullock drays & horses and carts. It was very bumpy for the early cars to travel along, my aunt said. She also remembers when there were lots of

21. school photos Lisarow school [1]
Hello list members I am wondering if there is anyone out there who went to Lisarow School in the years 1951 and 1952. I attended there in those years. At the time I was living with my grandparents, Frank & Meme Pryor. Frank and his brother owned the general store/post office Pryor Bros which still stands today. I have most of my school photos from the other schools I attended but there are none from 1951/52. Perhaps there were no school photos taken in those years. I would be very interested

23. Re: [ANCC] Empire Bay PS -125 year anniversary [1]
Hi Kay, Just wondering what celebrations will be taking place and where ? I attended Empire Bay School when a Mr Jones was the teacher, the class room was just one big room and all students from kindergarten to 6th grade were taught together. We lived in a little timber 2 bedroom cottage near the Empire Bay jetty with family consisting of Mum and Dad and 7 kids, so very cramped, I remember bath night and the old chip heater, also getting up early to see the kangaroos in nearby paddocks and the smell
