I have found that the NSW State Library holds an insolvency record
list and wondered how I can go about getting a copy of an insolvency
listed.
The person is Edward BLACKMORE
The locality is Sydney.
Occupation is schoolmaster
Sequestration 21/02/1867
File No 8179
Date Certificate Issued 15/10/1867
I'd be most grateful if there is anyone that can help me please -
it's a bit difficult for me to call in and check since I live in New
Zealand. More than willing to do research in NZ in return.

Is there anyone that is going to the Western Sydney Records Centre in
the near future who could look at an insolvency record for me please
for one Edward Hugh Ennis BLACKMORE? I have all the necessary
details for ordering the files.
I am more than willing to do research in New Zealand in return.
Many thanks to anyone who can help

Hi Sue,
This interested me as I once researched a NZ doctor who skipped to Australia
with a much younger woman who was not his wife and practiced medicine and
set up a huge public life in Sydney under an assumed name.
Your email set me wondering how much skipping back and forth there was to
escape what ever and was better known people with lesser known people just
moving town or state. In days before photographic printing descriptions
could fit lots of people.
Does any one have any more examples

Hi
You can readily access the website www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives. Go to
"Site Search" and enter "Insolvency". Then click on "Search the Index" My
search for Edward Blackmore showed:
Blackmore Edward, Sydney, Occupation Schoolmaster. Sequestration 21/02/1867,
File Number 8179, Date Certificate Issued 15/10/86.
I am sure you will find other info on the site which will enable you to
order a copy of the above.
Regards
Keith Binney

Thanks Keith for your email. I've had a good look at the site and
unfortunately the Western Sydney Records Centre where the insolvency
records are kept do NOT do photocopying of old insolvency records so
you have to have someone physically examine them. There is not much
point in me ordering a copy of the index because as you have found
the index details which are held in the State Library are all on the
internet. (They are the details that you have kindly emailed me).

Hello Sue,
Sandra Jordan is an agent who visits the State Archives regularly and will
copy and send you archives that can only be done in person. Insolvency
Records are of this type. Once you have the Reference No. etc. you can email
it to Sandra and she will get them for you and send them very promptly. Also
for less than the cost the Archives quotes.
Her contact details are:
