Hi Listers,
I am seeking the location of an area known as Stony Creek in the Mudgee
area.
I have tracked the location down to the Parish of Tonbong in the County of
Phillip which in turn is in the general Rylstone area.
If anyone has access to a location map of the area showing the above I would
appreciate your reply.
I believe that in 1908 I had two great great uncles living in the area, by
the name of (WAIT FOR IT) SMITH.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard of a Stoney creek near Rylstone but as Annette says try
the that site.
There is a Stoney Creek at Cooyal (parish of Bayly) also Stoney Creek on
the road to Goolma out of Wellington, also Stoney Creek listed 1867 as
goldfields near Stuart Town & thats for starters.
Also try Dept of Lands site which brings up parish maps.nswgov.online
services/parish maps

Thanks again Joanne.
The hotel wasn't a bad one either. Had a drink three a couple of times

Hello Wal
An exceptionally good source for finding places in Australia is the
Australian Government's Geoscience page at http://www.ga.gov.au/. They
list all places with names here and have maps and the names of the maps
and other things that you can by from them. They are the agency
responsible for these things. Like Smith's, Railway Street,
Stoney/Stony Creek and Station Street, there are quite a few. Locations
are listed separately from towns and creeks.
Have a look at this one, and others nearby,
Hi Folks,
I was just wondering if anybody on this list lives near Kenebri. I am
trying to get some modern photos of this small village.
I spent 2 years on my younger childhood there and they are some of my
happiest memories. I would love to know if any of the Wangmann, Worrell,
Bennett or Muller families still live in the area. These are names I can
clearly remember and I would love to know if any of them are still around.
My father was the headmaster of the school there in 1955-56.
Thank you Lyn.

Thanks Kirsten. I will have to buy a couple of certificates to prove
the fact, but it probably is the right family. Sometimes a fresh pair of
eyes see what you have been staring at and didn't see!

Hi Kirsten,
Thanks very much, this looks very much like the right person. I must
have missed him when I searched before looking for any spelling
variants. I found some as JENETT as well, so it looks like the
handwriting must have been hard to read!
Thanks again,
Jenny

Hi everyone. I am researching the families of Eliz Harley & James Blackman and particularly their sons James & Mary Blackman, Thomas b.1818. I know from past postings there's a few familiar names on the list. Anyway I'd love to talk to anyone following these families and Thomas Blackman listed below..
Books: "BINNAWAY PUBLIC SCHOOL" and "WATERLOO CREEK". "BINNAWAY on the CASTLEREAGH" .Anyone have copies of these or know where I could find them please? Happy to share any of my notes. Many thanks, Marg.

Hi from Melbourne,
I have an ancestor who gave Mudgee as his birth place. Can any one tell
me if the baptism records for Mudgee are available anywhere? The man in
question is William Henry JERRETT born about 1865, I haven't been able
to find him in the NSW BDM Index, so was hoping that his baptism may be
recorded.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Jenny
hi
I think that Val Dries was researching this family. She was working at the
Mendooran services club a year or 2 ago. I don't know her address. I'd be
interested to know more as have notes for many of the Blackman family
branches.

Hi All,
Wondering if there is anyone out there with a connection to the
following families.
Edward COVER m. Susan CHRISTIE c1843, Wellington NSW
Isaac BIRD m. Eliza Cover c1863, Mudgee, NSW
Would love to hear from anyone with an interest in these families.
Cheers,
Sherene
Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your reply.
I have already had a look at the parish maps.nswgov. and believe it or not
came up with 169 matches. OH BOY!!!!!
I believe that I brought my query result down to a Parish of Tonbong in the
County of Phillip which places Stony Creek in the vicinity of Mudgee,
Rylstone and Windeyer. The information I have on my SMITH family also points
in this direction as my Great Great Grandfather Thomas lived in the
Campbells Creek area.
I believe it is his two sons John and Stephe
Hi Ireene,
Was this message meant for me?
The message I posted on the 8th April was only listing email addresses of
people with a link to the BLACKMAN name.
