1. FAMILY HISTORY - BAGUST / KNIGHT @ ASSOCIATED FAMILIES [1]
I am researching the family history of the BAGUST and KNIGHT families and other associated families including the STUBBINS,WILLOUGHBY and BEAZLEY families. George and Emma Bagust and their family lived in the Braidwood/Araluen/Majors Creek area in the 1850s' 1860's and 1870's. Similarly members of the Knight family. Members of the Bagust family married into the Knight/Stubbins/Willoughby and Beazley families. I am interested in the early history of any of these families and would like to make contact with

Cindy Thank you for posting that extract from the SCT published 8 days after my birth, though not in Corrimal, I arrived here with my family in 1929. Members of the DUFFY family still abound in the region, there was a WALL teaching at Corrimal High school when my children were attending that school, there is a GILBERT Street in Corrimal though whether it is named for the gentleman you mention I'm not sure, BUXTONs are still around, the CAIRNS name is well known in Bellambi, RUMMERY is still in the phone b

4. SCANTLEBURY, Braidwood [1]
Hi Ray and all, Is that the location for Eliza SCANTLEBURY ? Sorry, I should have been more specific .... I was more wondering about the 'location' for 'my' Margaret SCANTLEBURY, and her daughter Margaret E. who both died in 1864, at Araluen/Braidwood. It looks like she has no headstone, but I was wondering whether I may be able to find the 'location' of where she was buried. It may be an unmarked grave :( ... I don't really know ? Cheers, Diane ----- Original Message ----- Subject: Re: SCANTLEBURY,

Hi Dianne, Your best contact in the area would be the Research of the Braidwood & District Historical Society: history@braidwood.net.au A check of the Braidwood Monumental Inscriptions reveals the following headstone. SCANTLEBURY Eliza, died 1 Feb 1861 aged 35 years, wife of Frederick. 6. Re: SCANTLEBURY, Braidwood [1]
Hi everyone, Many thanks to Marg, Ray, Penny and Bill in regards to my SCANTLEBURY query. Eliza was Frederick's former wife, then he married 'my' Margaret, and when she died he married another lady ! Three wives in less than five years, he must have been a busy man :) ... or else it was a conspiracy theory ! I was somewhat hoping that Margaret (and her child to Frederick) may have had a headstone (Eliza did ... not fair !!) so it would give me an excuse to drive on down from Sydney to take some photos.
7. Re: Kiss Family [1]
Hello Marie My Great Great Aunt, Martha P. Evans married John Joseph KISS in 1870 in Eden. My research found that John Joseph was the youngest son of William and Elizabeth Kiss - and the younger brother of your David Kiss. I don't have a lot of information on the Kiss family - only what I could find on the NSW BDM. My maternal great grandmother, Elizabeth Margaret Evans was living with John and Martha Kiss when she met and married my great grandfather, Albert Bottomley. The EVANS family were from

Hi all, My current research interest in the Braidwood area is : SCANTLEBURY, Margaret, d. at Braidwood, 1864. SCANTLEBURY, Frederick Edward, a goldminer from the Araluen area. Does anyone know what cemeteries were in use in the Braidwood/Araluen areas c. 1864 ? and what would be the best historical/family history society to contact for either of these two areas ? Any assistance appreciated :) Regards, Diane

15. Research Interest in this area - KISS [1]
Hello to all listers, My ancestors were spread liberally around this district in the early 1800s and I would dearly love to meet up with any descendants of the KISS family. My earliest is James Kiss who arrived on the Ganges to Port Jackson in 1797 with a life sentence for stealing someone's hat in Birmingham, Warwickshire England. His son, William Kiss, born in the colony and married Elizabeth Kennedy, were my great great grandparents. I come from their son, David Kiss married to Jane Tindall, who were m

Hi Cindy and List, Thank you Cindy for the wonderful transcriptions you have made and posted to this List. None of the fellows referenced "belong" to me. 25. Re: SCANTLEBURY, Braidwood [1]
Hi again Diane, The book on Monumental Inscriptions gives the location of the grave. To the left of the 'eastern' gate there is a narrow pathway. If you follow this pathway south to the end, it will be the last headstone on the right. As for Araluen, I did visit there to-day as part of my Returning Officer duties for to-morrow's by-election and Bill be envious to know I did have a couple of beers - to add to the many prior ones.
