Jan,
There are no surviving records for the Tallaganda Shire at Braidwood which go
back that far.
Your only hope may be a directory for that year.

I have discovered that an aunt of mine, Agnes
Ruth WILSON (born- 9/12/1903) married Henry
Charles BRABON, most likely in the North
Queensland area.
Agnes Ruth is a sister of my Birth Mother -
Jessie Arclisse (Arkles on birth register)
WILSON who married a Mr. PAUL between 2/1/1930
and 26/2/1930, again, most likely in North
Queensland.
I would be pleased to hear from any one who
might know something about these families.

Hi
First thanks to the people who have set up this group, despite what has been
said on AUST-L, I believe that there is a need to specialized groups in this
country. It can only be hoped that this group can set the benchmark for
others to follow.
Along these lines I would suggest that to save duplication of FAQ and allow
the group to become specialized, as it should be, the following.

Nowhere near as common as the move to the Richmond River, which started
about 1880 and reached its peak c1900. The "Kiama Independent" c1900

Hello All
My father grew up in the Robertson area, famous for growing great
potatoes and for as long as I can remember, whenever I was doing a task
in the "right way", he would say..
"Now you're diggin' where there's 'taters"
This expression had found its way into my (very incomplete) family
history as a memento of the past and a link to the old days at
Robertson. Last weekend I mentioned it to Dad and he said "Oh no son,
that's what the Yanks used to say in New Guinea in the War"....

It is entirely possible to drive from Canberra to Sydney via Araluen, but
you will need to allow a full day - not because of the extreme distance,
but because of the distractions in the areas you will be travelling through.
Take the road east from Canberra (called the Kings Highway, I think),
through Queanbeyan, Bungendore, Doughboy and Braidwood. Queanbeyan to

Hello Researchers!
I am currently undertaking research that concerns a Christopher Vincent,
known to be at Sutton Forest in the late 1830s. Any connections or
references greatly appreciated. Details as follow:
Information concerning Christopher Vincent held by the Greater London Record
Office was obtained via the Thomas Coram Foundation for Children, London,
now built on the site of the Foundling Hospital. It reveals that Christopher
Vincent was born on 6 January 1814 to Martha Lewis, aged 21 years. She c
Hello everyone
I am seeking information on a relation of mine Peter Thomas MANNING who was
reported to be a Mayor of BEGA probably in the late 1800's. Peter Snr.
Married Elizabeth MORGAN at Braidwood in 1860, and they had several children
who were either born or married in the BEGA area. Any information on the
above people would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards

I have an interest in the above public school which operated at
Robertson in the Southern Highlands from about 1881, on and off, until
it was finally closed in 1910.

* James Weir 3 children
