6. John HOLMES & Mary Ann CLARKE - "Mahratta Run" (or Station) [1]
Hi, I am researching John Holmes and Mary Ann Clarke who were married on Mahratta Run (or Station) in the Bombala district in 1875. I would be very interested in hearing from anybody who has information either on these people, or on Mahratta itself. I would be particularly interested to know who named the station, and why they chose the name Mahratta in the first place - having an interest in the Mahratta/Maratha Wars? Thank you. Warmest regards, Lynne.
