Are you aware of any publications about the history of the Cardwell area.
I have just found a link between the Wildsoet family and my Jacobsen family
and would love to find a bit more about them as they were pioneers in that
area.

Hi Kaye,
I am not aware of any specific publications though I do remember seeing a
rather large publication at some time in the past, but if you contact the
Cardwell Shire Library, they may have information for you. You can obtain
contact details from the webpage
http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/pub/directory/cardwell.htm and I'm sure they'd be
happy to help.
cheers,

Geoffrey,
The place is Miriam Vale which is 64 km south of the Benarby turnoff to
Gladstone.
It is used by many travellers as a place to have a fuel and meal break on
their trips north.
From memory you cross Serpentine Creek a couple of times before you get to
Rocky. Can remember
seeing it on my many trips b

Hi Listers,
In Jan, June Pickering sent me details on a death cert for Margaret Henderson; nee Woolley. I can now confirm she died 6th Feb 1948 Rockhampton, buried Rockhampton Cemetery
Can anyone in the area supply me with details of the Rockhampton Cemetery MI; or direct me to a newspaper death notice for 6/02/1948. Interestedly, she was buried on the same day she died. Her nephew was the informant, which means her husband has deceased her. Would appreciate any info on Thomas Henderson's death also.

Brilliant, Janet! No, I hadn't noticed them (silly me!), but they're bound to

anywhere!

I have had a good day with finding out information.
I discovered that William and Emma Sutherland's daughter Charlotte Mary
married Leslie Colthurst CATO in 1917.
From the Transmissions of Real Estate by death up to 1959 I discovered
that Charlotte (of Mareeba) was the recipient of land from both parents.
From the Qld Electoral rolls I found that Charlotte and Leslie lived in
Mareeba (Sutherland St and Constance St) but were missing from the rolls in
1973. Leslie had been in the 1972

Is there anybody on the list who is researching the name Savage please? I am trying to collect information on James Hunter and have found that he was registered as the Publican of Travellers Rest Cooktown and Live and Let Live at Walkerston during the period 1843-1900.
He was associated, apparently, with a gentleman named Savage in one of those ventures.
James Hunter died in 1910 without marrying or producing children, so it is very difficult to establish information on a man who seems to have lived all
