Hi,
This is a long shot, but does anyone have, or know of sets on South
Australian Marriages 1842-1906 and South Australian Deaths 1842-1906, on
microfiche that are for sale?
Please contact me off list if you wish to sell both (or either) of these

Dear All
Some time ago I put a request for information regarding the Blind Asylum. With members assistance I have been able to obtain information for an ancestor.
For your information, the Blind Asylum was established by act of parliament in 1872 but, before it began operation in 1874, its name was changed to the Blind and Deaf Institute (or similar). This organisation is now called Townsend House, located at 28 King George Ave, Hove 5048 (PO Box 43, Brighton). In 1888 an institute was created in North

In my Mother's Bible, presented to her 21 June 1928 the inscription reads that the book was presented to Renie Barnes at Newcastle Community of Girl Citizens, by the Winifred Caruthers, National Chief Counsellor - I wonder if anyone has come across this place and knows what it was. I'd love to know it's history if that is possible! Liz from South Australia

I'm wondering if anyone has heard of these stores which numbered about 33 in all and were owned by my great great uncle Sydney from about the 1920's to 1950's/60's. They were apparently called "S.O. Beilby - South Australia's Greatest Grocer". If possible I'd like to find some information about this but I don't know where to look! Liz from SA

anything. I have some certificates in 1840, 1872 and 1946 and they don't

Hi everyone,
I'm new to your list and at the present moment am researching the above names.
Tom Percival ST. CLAIR (who came out from England, possibly Cumberland) married Jessie (Janet?) MCBAIN on 23rd Dec. 1879 at Milang (District of Strathalbyn). Soon after they moved to Victoria where they raised their family and later died.
I'm having real trouble finding out anything about pre- Victoria. Jessie's mother was recorded as Widow McBain so I do not know her christian name or the father's.
Hope this rings s
I suggest you pay SAGHS $5 to find out who posted the info to the
Biographical Index of South Australia. They may have progressed in their
research in the last decade or so.

Hi Cheryl & List
What a fantastic idea! (Cheryl's e-mail is below) Are there many of this
type of event held at Port Adelaide? What numbers turn up for each?
My ancestors were a few months earlier, 3 Oct 1849 on the `Macedon`.
Is there anyone else out there that has a link with the Macedon 3 Oct 1849
arrival at Port Adelaide?

Hi List,
My name is Shane McMillan and I live in Canberra. I am tracing McMillan ancestors that came to South Australia aboard the Sir Thomas Gresham in 1858. My branch was not with them, but appears to have arrived sometime earlier and settled in Southern NSW.
I have some research that I did a decade ago, and have only recently revitalised.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Shane McMillan

Hi everyone: just wondering if anyone has copies of the South Australian Indexes for BDM available and is prepared to do a search for me?
I'm looking for the Birth of Emily Brice (or Bryce) born around 1910, her death, in 1944, and her marriage to Hartley Westley Francis BARTLETT in about 1930 - 1939. I live in the country and it isn't easy to get to Adelaide - and need to know quite desperately (as you will all appreciate I am sure!) Thanks very much!
