Thank you for your advice in connection with the preparation of the Convict CDRom and convict records generally. Your first e-mail I thought was very informative.
However, at the risk of jumping in at the deep end as I often do, I would like to clarify that it is definitely NOT true to say that "all VDL
musters were originally part of the NSW archives for 1788-1825". In fact,
there is a significant repository of additional muster material which has been
largely overlooked to date. I speak from a

I am wondering if anybody can help me. My ancestor John Pilgrim was recorded as being buried at Bishopsbourne in 1898 and his wife Eliza (nee Wadley) also at Bishopsbourne in 1942. I have been unable to find any record re Bishopsbourne burials. I also visited Bishopsbourne a few years ago but couldn't find any cemeteries. Can anybody help me please?

This year will see the beginning of our Bicentenary here in Tasmania and it is hoped that by September there will be many things that the public will be able to take part in to commemorate our 200 years.
In September 1803 the Albion and the Lady Nelson brought Lt. Bowen and the first settlers and convicts to Risdon Cove on the River Derwent. Then in February 1804 the Ocean and the Lady Nelson brought LT. Collins and his settlers and convicts up the river to Sullivans Cove.

I have in the past tried not to be offended by Garry Wilson's comments on these lists about my work, but after his last outburst I find myself having to defend my name and reputation as a author and an historian.
Judith Hollingsworth in her email to the lists 30 January said "Irene Schaffer's immensely useful book "Land Musters, Stock returns and Lists VDL 1803-22 (pub. 1991) is a great guide to all this."
Garry replied "I fear that you may had slightly misled listers when commented on Irene Schaffer's b

Hi from a lovely day here in WARATAH,
The project to collect all the families who have WARATAH CONNECTION is now underway. If any of you wish to add or view the names already underway please do so. This http://www.geocities.com/waratah_tasmania/WARATAH will take you to the WELCOME page and if you so wish you can then have a look at the town of Waratah. I'd like to hear from anyone with MOY family connections.
This family had a bakery in North Hobart in the early 1900s, and I have come
by a wonderful photo of their horse & cart at the Hobart show taken in 1939.
My Grandfather was quite friendly with Tom Moy in those days, and the horse
judging at the Hobart show was always a competitive event for the two of
them.
The back of the photo reads:
"A Happy Xmas and Prosperous New Year, from T A Moy & Sons, 1939."
Just thought somebody out there must be intere

Let us take it for granted. Gary's book is going to bigger than

With all that been going on I haven't had time to tell you about my good news. With the help of my friend Chris Woods I am now the proud owner of my own website. Some of the indexes on it are listed below.

"Lady Egidia" passengers 1862
Convict Women at Macquarie Harbour 1821-1825
"Lady Juliana" women in VDL 1807-1813
"Eliza" Military Pensioners 1850
Survivors from the "Endeavour" wreck at Dusty Sounds NZ in 1796
Women at Norfolk Plains (Longford) 1823

Knopwood's diary does not mention Fegan or Fagan in the index. Nor does it
mention Martha Smith. There are many other Smiths but under Thomas Smith
the following is shown:
p205 1815 - too early for your Thomas
p232 1816 - also too early for your Thomas (who was executed) but Knopwood
mentions visiting the Kangaroo. It might be worthwhile checking his arrival
date.
p369 1822 - not your Thomas either I don't think as on 28 October 1822 he
said "In the morn I married Mr Smith to Miss Gibbons".
