5. Queens Orphanage [1]
Elizabeth HART was admitted to Queens Orphanage aged 10 years on 24.2.1855 and discharged 26.1.1859. Her sister Jane aged 8 years was admitted on the same day and discharged 3.8.1859. Their brother David aged 3 years was admitted on same date and discharged 3 days later on 27.2.1855. I believe children were admitted to the Orphanage if (a) they had lost one or both parents - parents didn't die until 1875 & 1876. (b) were entirely destitute - could possibly have been reason. (c) their parents were incompet

10. RE: [AUS-Tas] Longey Records [1]
Dear Gillie I think the solution of your problem is :- Henry Longey was born 11 August 1869 married to May Brittain aged 17 on 11 Dec 1895 Pt Cygnet Reg No 693. May died 17 August 1896 Reg No 572 and then Henry married Lucy Catherine Whitton aged 17 on 27 December 1898 at Kingston Reg No 486. There is only one Henry - the birth dates were taken from the marriage records. Frances, Launceston
11. Oliffe Richmond [1]
Seeing the photo of the sculpture by Oliffe Richmond in the Mercury on New Year's Day made me wonder again who his father was. I know he was Robert Richmond but haven't linked him to a family. His mother was Catherine Augustus Bertie "Kitty" GAGE of Gagebrook Old Beach. Oliffe trained with Henry Moore and worked for him for some years. He also lectured at the Chelsea School of Art. A fammour Tasmanian son! Helen Brown -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7

17. RE: [AUS-Tas] Susan Hood's "Transcribing Tasmanian Convict Records" [1]
Hello list Can I just add - that being a public servant in Tasmania under the Public Sevice Act - staff do not profit individually from the sale of books/papers/articles they have authored or co-authored under the banner of their respective organisation/s. The same could probably be said of AOT, SLT and TMAG. All profits in this instance are returned to PAHSMA and utilised in research, interpretation and conservation works at the site. Susan is happy to answer questions about her publication and th

22. Death for a Press [1]
Hi, I'm not sure if I can get this info as I haven't researched in Tassie for quite some time. I am searching for a William Joseph Press so I am wondering if someone could check if there is a death record or burial record for him. He was born in Victoria in 1862. I have found him coming back in to Australia in 1925 after being in South Africa so its going to be sometime after this date. Thanks Wendy in South Aussie
23. RE: [AUS-Tas] Re: Byres/Rogertson & Byers/Wilson [1]
Hello Rachel, Frank & Listers. Yes I am Brenda Wyllie, and I have been in contact with Frank McCulloch. Thank you for the Dates of Marriage Rachel, I too have the same feeling that the two William Byres/Byers could be related, but unfortunately I do not have the knowledge & resources to know where to start researching them. I am willing to share the information I have on my side and would also like to gather the information on the Byers/Wilson family as they may one day connect. --- Rachel Jones
24. Roberts- Thomas and Eliza [1]
I am searching for a marriage for Thomas William Roberts and Eliza Emily?. Thomas was born about 1876 in St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands and arrived in Australia with his parents (Thomas Issac and Mary Ann Roberts) on 25 Dec 1882. I would also like information on any children born to this marriage. I have it on hearsay that there are at least four children. The only information I have on them is from the tombstone - Cornelian Bay Cemetery. It states that their younger son is Ronald William - Died 13
25. Re: [AUS-Tas] William CLARKE Part 2 : Pet theories and pet peves LOL [1]
Hi Garry You wrote - > Common sense, if nothing else, suggests to me that if two men refer to themselves as brothers and one is known as CLARK and the other as PEVES, then they are probably half brothers sharing the same mother and with different fathers Masons and members of similar organisations call each other "brother". Have you considered/eliminated this possibility? Ian Westergaard In Cloudy & Cool Central Otago New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: "Garry Wilson"
