Hi Jenny,
I am interested to know if you applied to the Church (if it is still
there!) for the record, or are they kept elsewhere, if so where? I
feel that marriage and christening's of the LAKE family may have been
held there around 1820/30, if that was the only Church there at that
time. However, in 1845 Mary Louisa FLAKE, (actually LAKE) and Lewis
WADE married at the house of the parties, Brimcreek, acc
Hi Listers,
Would be interested to hear any info on Robert Doctor. My ggg grandfather
was assigned to him on his arrival into the Sorell area. I believe Doctor
made significant contributions to the development of Sorell.
Thank you

HI List, I am Just wondering, does anyone living in Tas have a phone book handy? because I am curious as to how many people who are living in tas have the surname of PLUMB. This is because I am wondering if my ancestor John PLUMB, who was transported for life
in 1820 took up with a girlfriend or wife before his demise in 1823, he was shot because he took up with the notorious Brady bushranger gang,so I am wondering if it is possible he had kids in the brief space of 3 years, just curious! by the way, does

I have been researching my family and doing well and really enjoying it. I
had a Great Uncle, Allan Masters who I knew
well, he died in 1977. He was a quiet, dignified man who never married.
Research into his life seems to indicate that
he was indeed to be married, around 1932. It seems that his Fiancee was to
attend Longford for dress fittings and as
she and her mother were leaving the farm, she stopped the car briefly to do
something with the Bull. When she failed to
return to the car her mother went and

I am not connected to your Flynn line I have contacted you as I am very
curious as to your Weeding connections. My husband's Tasmanian link to a

Hi John; You may get some idea of the date of manufacture of the watch
if you can interpret the hallmark. a jeweller will have the booklet
"Bradbury's Book of Hallmarks which is the guide to british and irish
silver, gold and platinum. if the watch case if of ueropean manufacture
the case may have "800" or "900" as an indication of the silver content
ie 800/1000.

I've recently bought a recently published book: The Breweries of
Australia by KM Deutsher, mainly because it covers the Bothwell Brewery
and the Jolly Hatters Brewery in Hobart, which were at one time owned
and run by my BLAKE ancestors.
It seems reasonably thorough and gives lots of names of owners/managers
of breweries (and in some cases, pubs) and I would be pleased to do
look-ups for names / breweries for anyone with a connection of that
type.
I was pleasantly surprised to find another ancestor is na

Please can anyone help me to discover more about
Elzeard Henry WHIFFER or WHIFFEN?
I've just looked at the Tasmanian Family Link Search
http://pioneers.tased.edu.au/taslink2.asp?fname=&lname=
which shows Elezeard Henry WHIFFER, who died at Hobart,
Tasmania in 1868, aged about 58.
There is no other information given about him, with no known
siblings, children or parents.
What I'd like to be able to do is to find out if he was the Elzeard

son of Rev. J

Dear Listers,
During research in Tas. recently, I came across a Jordan House, and also
believe there is a Jordan Farm in the Black Brush area. Does anyone know
if the two were owned by the Tonks family? Is there a historical record of
the Black Brush/Dromedary area? Any assistance would be greatly
appreciated. Am researching the John Munday family in the area, also Wood
family, Hanslow, Hardman, Hartam.
Thank you

There should be much information about the Rev Bedford (only unfortunately
I can't locate much of mine at present except that he was the colony's
second Chaplain) He presided at a number of my family's weddings and
christenings where the parties were convicts or ex-convicts. Most, if not
all of these events were at old St David's.
I seem to remember that there was considerable anti-Bedford feeling from
which his son (a medical Dr.) later suffered butdon't recall if the feeling
was because of old Bedford's
