Dear Member Societies
The Wangaratta Family History Society has tabled the following for discussion on 24 May:
"That the Membership Card issued to a Country Member Society can be used for research purposes at GSV by any financial member of that Society, limited to one research visit per member in any one financial year."
In Support the Wangaratta Family History Society comments that country members are at a disadvantage because of distance from Melbourne and rarely have an opportunity to research at GSV
Hi Peter
Yes, it would create a big problem.
I suggest we discuss the administration of such a scheme only if we think it
would be of benefit to all of us. If we think it would be of benefit then
worry about the admin aspect. Finally take it back to our Councils - no way
should we make any decision on 24 May.
Cheers
Clive

Hi Everyone,
The next Clinic will be held at Level B1, 257 Collins St on Friday
May 16 between 10 am and 12 noon.
The Clinic is free.
If you have the program or are interested in purchasing it this is a
good opportunity for you to look at how you can use it to record your
family history.
Regards,
Irene M. Fullarton,
President, Victorian GUM Inc.
As I understand it, the country society member card is issued in the name of
one of the particular society's members. Would this create a problem if the
Wangaratta society's proposal is adopted?

Hello everybody
Why would it create a big problem? Our Historical Society is a member of
RHSV and as a financial member (with a card) I can use their resources
without any problems.
Jenny Bottcher. Cohuna.
Based on the numbers who have advised us of their attendance we will use the GSV meeting room instead of Ross House.
We will put a notice on the door of Ross House for latecomers who have not read this email..
The lifts at 257 Collins St have been cranky lately, so if you have trouble with them phone the GSV office on 9662 4455.
