Dear Gwen, I did know they were in the Monaro earlier, but I didn't know
about the font at the church in Dalgety! It is all these little extras that
add meat to the bones of our families. Do you have a Kiss connection Gwen?
I have done a lot of research in the NSW area myself, so I would have to
check with you first to make sure you weren't going over the same ground. If
you need me to show you how I fit into the family tree, let me know. :-o)
Marie.

Hi Listers
In late July I put out a general enquiry for any information about Robert

The Kiss family were at first pioneers of the Monaro region as were the
O'Mara family. The Dalgety Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea has a
christening font provided by William Kiss if I remember correctly. I thought
you may not know this and if I can be of help in your NSW research please
let me know as I come across the Kiss name quite often. Gwen Hubert
Hello Robert,
You may already have your answer:
The book refers to a reference "Goldfields of Victoria" by J.A. Patterson,
published 1862
page 87 "Whipstick": The diggings north east of Flagstaff Hill were
Whipsnake, the Beehive and Skylark diggings, where a skylark sang to the
diggers.
Sorry, no names of discoverers. The name HERITAGE is not in the index of
the book, either. Checked Helen Harris's "Digging for Gold" and no joy
there, either.

My inquiry is about Emily Willicobe Lowen Born Symes at Taradale first married to Edward Campbell Dean in 1873
had 3 kids Martha, Samaul & Frederick then Divoirced and married John Benjamin Lowen in 1885
They had 2 kids Blanche Emma, AgnesFrances. Emily is reported to have been a Nurse in Korumburra about 1900 >died 1948. John I'm Lead to believe was involved with the Salvation
Army as I have a Photo, he died in 1942 they lived in Leongatha Rd ? can anyone help with
the above, my G/Mother is Blanche Emma
I was wondering if anyone having the book "Gold Discovery in Victoria by
James Flett" could do a lookup for me. I understand my g/grand father is
referenced - Joe Heritage - as one of two possible miners who discovered the
Beehive mine. I'd appreciate anyone who could do the lookup and transcribe
what the book says - including any clues to dates.
Thanks.
Robert
Hello again Gwen, I have been thinking about the font in the Dalgety Church,
and wondering how I could ascertain which William that was, as there were a
great number of them. Is there a publication available or a photo or
something? I'll have to have a look on the map to find just where it is.

Thanks to everyone {and there were quite a few of you} that did lookups for
me from SA NSW and Victoria.
I didn't find him my grandfather Thomas James Mason but please don't think
that you couldn't help because you have {for me} you have proven without a
doubt that Mason was not his real name.
With a bit of luck and a big thanks to Lorene l might have found his real
family.
Don't you just love the power of lists like this.
Many many thanks.

Hello to the List! Some of my ancestors spilled over into the Maffra (and other) areas from NSW in the early 1800s. Having the rather unusual surname of Kiss I am hoping I may be able to find some information about them, and hopefully, some living descendants. If I could be set on the right track by SKS please? However, I need to discuss this subject on list as your post may cause some

The technique you mention is at best a hit and miss attempt at minimisin

Sharon,
I am afraid I can not help you with your inquiry, but am hopeful
that you may be able to help me. I attended the Bairnsdale School of Mines
in the early 40's & one of my school mates & friend was NORMAN MUSGROVE .
Norm came from Goon Nure so I would guess that you are related. My question
is "where in Norm.Now"?
In those days I was known as Disney White, but since moving to Melbourne
from Broken Hill us my first name. Would appreciate any info you may have

Thanks Ada. A couple of others have responded with the same news. My lead
came from Keith McD Fairweather's book. I'll keep investigating.
Thanks again,

Hello Elaine,
I am sorry to say that your William and Charlotte (to the best of my
knowledge) are not mine. 'Tis a pity. My Smiths came from Lowthorpe
in Yorkshire. Lots of luck with yours,
