Hi again,
Having decided that the Curtis/Brown family were one and the same, I finally gave the list to my mother-in-law.......her father was the eldest of the children with the surname CURTIS and whom she always thought was only child....Wrong!! Anyway, she rang me back later and said that she remembers going to visit two maiden CURTIS aunts , one was called Lottie........so CHARLOTTE CURTIS, I presume, and her sister. They are not immediate family to Joseph William Curtis, so I hope they will prove to b

Hi Lynne
I list my John BAKER many years ago. I found out that several Genealogists
had applied for his death cert. and came back with the usual Can't Find
letter. We finally got the certificate. The spelling of his name was
different and a few other details were mucked up enough for all of us to be
confused. Still haven't found his grave but still looking. This John BAKER

Dear List
Could you please do a look up for me of the birth, marriage or death of
George Fielden Bunting born approx 1840-41 not sure if Australia or England, died Ballarat ? 21.11.1913 aged ? 73,
His wife was Mary Ann Catherine Holmes , any information would be most helpful.
My thanks to all who offered suggestions.
I have since obtained all the newspaper articles I could find from the
library. They were very thorough.
I have visited the Police Museum and they were very helpful. Unfortunately
there is not a central file on the case, except for the inquest file. Their
suggestion was to go back to the country court where the original hearing
occurred.
Thanks again,
Peter Price, Melbourne, Australia

Hi Bernie,
The Golfields Library at Bendigo has an index of Eaglehawk Cemetery -
unfortunately the index doesn't seem to have been published as I have tried
everywhere to get a copy.
The Monumental inscriptions are on fiche and available at most genie and
other libraries.

Can anyone out there tell me where I can get in touch with an Historical
Society in the Euroa area. My husband is trying to locate the family of a
William George Douglas Orchard (better known as Douglas), whom we believe
lived in the Euroa area. We think "Douglas" had a daughter, possibly called
"Pat". She perhaps married a gentleman named Brown. Unfortunately he is
trying to recall this from memory. Any help out there???
Thank you

Actually, my Vicroads directory lists four places named Happy Valley
at present, but presumably there were once more than that. None of
those four are in or near Bendigo. However there is a

Anyone intending to planning to visit the Bendigo Library need to be aware
that will be closing at 1pm on Saturdays instead of 5pm starting this week.
I realize that this is primarily a local issue and that the local council
has to manage its finances somehow. However many people were using the
research facilities of the library when I visited last Saturday. I guess
that I was lucky that I picked the right weekend to visit.

Hi Listers,
I am pretty new to this list and have only lurked until now.
Can anyone please tell me what a "D Groomer and Gardener" was in the
late nineteenth century. This appears as an occupation in the 1881
Census of UK.
I look forward to hearing from someone. Additional information such as
the nature of the work, where it was carried out and for whom would also
be appreciated.

The mention of Berry St brings back many pleasant memories. As a young bloke
knocking about round town in the '50s I squired a number of nurses from
there - lovely young ladies they were too. :-))

Berry Street is in East Melbourne. It was a home for unmarried mothers
and an orphanage. I trained there in 1969-1970 as a Mothercraft Nurse.
It is now ran as a Childrens services Centre. They have a branch of
their services in the area of Shepparton and surrounds.

Hi, I am posting this to the mail lists I belong to in the hope of finding someone who wrote to me last month with an attachment about the Boag family. I have had problems with my computer and I unfortunately lost it, before I was able to write back. I was hoping the lady will see this and write back to me.
