1. [LINDENOW] Books and Place Names [1]
Hi List, I thought I might start by telling the list a little about what I have been up to. The Lions Club of Lindenow commissioned me to research and write a history last year, but I really only managed to start in June. So I have been seeing a few people, and catching up on what has already been written. There are already some good books on the area, and I think the Lindenow one by Judy Richardson and Margaret Treasure is still available from the school - I will check it out and let you know. Unfortunate

6. [LINDENOW] Re: AUS-VIC-LINDENOW-D Digest V00 #2 [1]
Hi list - all 9 of you! My name is Peter Robinson and I live, as you will see from my signature line, in Bairnsdale. I am a ring-in from Melbourne - came here in 1958, met and married a local girl, and then left again in 1963. We moved around a bit in OZ and PNG until 1996 when we 'came home' again - in retirement. While not strictly a local myself, my wife's family (Smiths and Mc Phersons) have been in Bairnsdale for over 100 years. Her grandparents, Charles Smith and Elizabeth (nee Anderson) produced 10
7. [LINDENOW] William Stevenson [1]
Hi Lindenowites, Just have to tell everyone that today I picked up the specifications book for William Stevenson, mainly from when he built Scott's Hotel at Lindenow South (the two-storey version). He also appears to have built the Lindenow South Railway Station (or, at least tendered for it), and did some work on the Lindenow School. This was probably while he was living in Bairnsdale. He later moved to sale, where he was Mayor for a time. I saw a lovely photo of him greeting Kingsford-Smith. Pity that wa
8. [LINDENOW] Introduction from Rowena BONDESAN [1]
Hi all, It's great to see a list dedicated to the Lindenow district! The recently posted personal introduction has prompted me to write in and introduce myself. I grew up in Walpa, and left the area in the late 1970's, moving to Melbourne, where I lived for many years. I married Hans in the 1980's, and we moved to QLD in the 1990's. While in Melbourne, we regularly visited family and friends in the area, but that's a little more difficult now. Being a descendant of the Telfer and Evans lines, I hav
9. [LINDENOW] Hello everyone [1]
Hi Everyone, Just a short message to let everyone know there are already nine subscribers to a very new list, plus myself and The Deputy. So I thought I would give it a day or so before I start posting. I will be mainly throwing in comments about things I find as I am researching, but welcome all and any other comments about history and the Lindenow area. But in the meantime, if anyone wants to jump in and introduce themselves, they are most welcome to do so. But again, welcome to the list. There are some

Hello Linda, Let me be first to congratulate you on setting up the AUS-VIC-LINDENOW list. I am sure that it will be a useful tool in connecting Lindenow and ex-Lindenow families. Regards Peter
