6. Attention: Submitters re Lookup problems [1]
To all the subscribers who have lookup offers on the various AVNE webpages. This covers the following webpages:- Books, Book indexes, General Lookups, Various resources pages such as obits, and Spare BDMs. In the past we possibly have all had some bad experiences (fortunately in the minority) with people who have been rude, demanding, unappreciative and/or not able to properly specify their requests. To make things easier for all of us that have offered lookups, I have recently made some changes, whic
7. RE: [AVNE] Wangaratta Cemetery CD - Burial John Duggan [1]
Pamela, Thank you very much for the Duggan look up. I note that the date of burial is listed as 1 July 1890 which of course could be a transcription mistake as John DUGGAN did not die until 11 July and according to his d.c. was buried on the 15th July 1890. Pamela, I'd really like to know if he is buried with anyone and I'm wondering if its possible to do a search on the cd using the plot number? If it's too much of a hassle don't worry about it, I'm just curious. I think I'll contact the Wangaratta Fam
8. Wow - have a look at this [1]
Good Evening I've been wasting time (well not really) on an 1863 Victorian Government Gazette and came across the following gem: IMMIGRANTS OPEN TO ENGAGEMENT. THE immigrants classified as under, with their wives, and in some instances with one or two children, are open for engagement at the Immigration Depot. Applications can be made either personally at the married couples' depot, Collins street west, or by letter addressed to the Immigration Agent, Melbourne, when full particulars will be furnished. Th
9. Refusal Refurbishment Licence [1]
Afternoon All, A Robert Scott applied for a refurbishment licence at Mansfield Court of Petty Sessions on 12 January 1861 and was refused - now I'm attempting to get hold of the act which applied at the time but in the meantime could some one come up with reasons as to why an application could be refused. Good Morning All On a Victorian 1870 marriage certificate the husband's father's occupation is listed as a 'whotesmith'. Does anyone have any idea what that is? 18. Euna Crawford [1]
I have been given a photo of Euna Crawford's wedding which I believe would have been in the Upper Murray area. Guessing but by the look of the outfit it would have been around 1920. This is not relevant to my own family and I am happy to send it to anyone who has this lady in their tree. It's a pretty good copy. Regards Denise

25. Burramine Paddy Bourke [1]
Have just returned home(June 13) from the Burramine weekend, and it was just wonderful with many locals and about 50 of our Sheridan clan there to unveil the plaque for Paddy. The story of Ned's crossing was always in our family, and substantiated by the statement given by Tom Lloyd who was sent off by the Kelly's to find a suitable crossing place over the Murray. He called into Paddy's pub, told him his name was Kain and that he had to cross the river to collect a cheque. Paddy, whose boat was kept padlocke
