NATIMUK COURT OF PETTY SESSIONS
Thursday,Feb. 15.
(Before Messrs J.KEYTE (chair) and A. E. BEARD J.P.)
William ROBERTSON charged Benjamin MANNING with using threatening words on
the 28th January at Quantong and intimidating witness as an officer of the
Western Wimmera Irrigation Trust.
Complainant conducted his own case; Mr H. B. CATHCART defended.
Complainant deposed that he was officer in charge of the water at Quantong.

Mr Geo. MOULDEN, who has been 19 years, and Mr. Robert YOUNG 16 years, in
the employ of Messrs YOUNG Bros. at Warracknabeal and Minyip respectively,
have been admitted as partners in the firm at those places.
Mr W. C. De GRANDI'S clearing sale has been fixed for March 24.
At the last meeting of the local Agricultural Society Dr. BIRD took
exception to the March show being held in the Mechanics when they had a show

At the sittings of the county court at Horsham on Friday last, the action by
the Kowree shire against Mrs Selena FORREST came on for hearing.
Proceedings were instituted some time ago by the shire against Mrs FORREST
claiming a sum of #112. for arrears of wire netting instalments and a sum of
#86/18s for interest on same, and for a decree that these amounts were
effectively charged on certain lands and that in default of payment of such
amounts with cost the lands in question be sol

DEATHS
The two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred OLIVER, of Grass Flat, who was
brought into her aunt, Mrs CARBERY'S, Natimuk, suffering from the extreme
heat, which had affected her head. Dr BIRD did not hold out much hope of
her recovery, and the poor little child, who was unconscious most of the
time, died on Saturday afternoon. Her remains were interred in Polkemmet
cemetery, on Sunday, a fair number following the remains out of respect for

Mr. Jas. WILLIAMS formally of Wyn Wyn, but now residing at Geelong,
contemplates a trip to England. Mrs WILLIAMS is not likely to go. Mr. P.
WILLIAMS will go to England shortly.
Mrs Bridget RUDD, a Wimmera resident of over 50 years, died last Sunday.
Deceased was caretaker for over 30 years at Horsham Lands Office. Four
children are Mrs POTTER, Mrs FRANCE, Mrs MATHEWS, and Mr. E. RUDD.
Mr. W. J. MAGILL has 250 acres under crop on his property near Bogan Gate.

DEATH
Mr and Mrs KING, of Tooan, were unfortunate enough to loose their only
child, a daughter of 7 weeks. Mrs KING was staying at Mrs BLACKSON'S, in
Natimuk, so that the child might have medical attention, when it died
suddenly on Friday morning, just after Mrs KING had left town. This child
was one of five living generations in the family of Mrs HOGAN, of Tooan.
Mrs HOGAN is 90 years old, and is still active. Mrs Julia JOHNSON, has a
daughter, Mrs C. TAYLOR, who is the mothe

Our Clear Lake correspondent writes:- On Friday last, 6th inst., a goodly
number of local residents met at "Marlbro," the residence of Mr and Mrs H.
E. HAIR, at whose kindly invitation the visitors came to celebrate their
silver wedding. The invitations bore the appointed hour of 4 o'clock, and
at that time a right royal welcome awaited all who were privileged to

One of my descendants William Watts and Hannah Mott l believe owned a house behind the Lowan State School. I have a copy of the plaque which says school was open between 1887-1965
If anyone knows of this school and can tell me exactly where it is l would appreciate the help. Lowan is no where in the maps but it somewhere near Noradjuha l would guess.

Arthur BROWN, a Teamster, of Jung, met with terrible injuries at
Warracknabeal on Friday morning. He was driving a wagon loaded with 100
bags of wheat, when by some means he fell under the wheel, which passed over
the right side of his body, crushing his shoulder fearfully, dislocating his
arm, crushing his leg, and bursting the foot through the boot in several
places. In this terrible plight he climbed onto the wagon front, and was
found shortly after in a very exhausted state.

suffering from insomnia and nervous breakdown. He is at Warrnambool
undergoing treatment.
Messrs J. N. LAMPARD and Sons have opened a fruit and confectionery business

I didn't realise such sects were happening as early as that. I'll post your

Obituary
Mr David KIELY
There were general expressions of regret on Wednesday when it became known
that Mr David KIELY, of "Oakvale", Goroke, had passed away after a short
illness at the advanced age of 78 years. Arriving at Adelaide from Ireland
about 52 years ago, he engaged in farming pursuits at Salisbury, S.A., and
later at Chetwynd, Victoria, where he remained for only a short time. He
then selected land at Goroke some 35 years ago, and there he farmed
successfully and acquired a g

Mr DUMESNEY, snr., of Polkemmet, died on Sunday night, at the advanced age
of 86 years. The remains were interred at the Polkemmet cemetery, Mr W.
MOFFIT conducting the burial service. Deceased leaves a widow and grown
family, amongst whom are Messrs E. and G. DUMESNEY and Mrs JAHN.

Fall Into A Barrel
Two Ribs Broken
Mr J. G. NITSCHKE was standing on a barrel, which was resting on a table,
fixing up the afternoon tea pavilion for the Rose Fair at Noradjuha on
Saturday. The lid of the barrel gave way and Mr NITSCHKE fell to the ground
firmly wedged in the barrel, with the painful result that he sustained two
fractured ribs and other injuries. It was some time before those who went
to his assistance could disentangle him from the barrel. he was taken per

Letters from the Front
Mr T. H. BOUSFIELD has received a cablegram from his son, Chris, that he is
well.
Writing to his mother Mrs W. H. MEREDITH, Private Hans FINCK, says that he
also is well, and that he hadn't yet seen a Turk. He had a splendid
Christmas dinner of turkey, and the Red Cross gave each parcel deliveries
and other presents.
