Hi C.A.H.
Heffernans were very numerous around Noorat. Are you connected with these?
Also noted a Heffernan on Closer Settlement property near Coleraine. Any
connection?

Perhaps someone with more technical expertise than me can tell Sue how to

prevent the message going to the List.

Beryl,
Whilst on the McLEAN subject, I was researching one of my family
ancestors.
Her name was Maria KILLEEN.
When Maria arrived, c. 1855, she was illiterate. When she married at
Williamstown, presumably the Priest at her wedding wrote her name as she
pronounced it, hence her name appeared on her Wedding Certificate as Maria
CLAYNE to Samuel SMITH.
When her first 2 children were born, her Maiden Name was recorded as McLEAN.
On the baptism of her 3rd child, her Maiden Name was given as KILLEEN, whi

Hello Peter,
That is what I am trying to establish ...... but there should only be one

Kindest Regards ...... Corinne.
Could someone please assist me with a place name in Victoria.
>From shipping records (and very hard to read ones) I have located my
ancestors arriving in Victoria in 1853. It shows that they were Labourers
and Shepherds and going to a place called "NERUB NERUB" or something
similar. Their surname was McMILLAN - although it appears on the shipping
records as McMULLAN.
I have looked on the VicNames section for web site www.land.vic.gov.au and
the closest I can see is the name of NAREEB. Some of the family lat
Hello Friends,
Is there some very kind person with access to the Victorian BDMs who could
help me sort something out please.
One of these gentlemen ...... same name ...... and dying the same year

their births ...... and the births of their siblings. The one I need had
about nine siblings. I do hope that they didn't both!
Lillie and Edward didn't have any children, so I can't do the obvious, that

Hi Everyone,
I am new to the list and was wondering if anyone has interest in the CARTHEW
family of either Chewton, Horsham. I know there are other areas of Victoria
that they could be also.
Kind regards

Hi Beverly
What about newspapers? I notice the newspapers I'm searching through at the
moment had advertisements for coachlines and say exactly which route they
travel, etc. Don't know about papers in that area but someone else will
surely fill us in, and most are available at the State Library.

Hello Listers,
I would like to make contact with anyone who has an interest in this
family:
Hugh Glover McLean and his wife Johanna (nee Quinlan) who had a business
in Minyip before moving to Ballarat in the 1920's. They had three
children but none of them married - Tommie, Mary who was a teacher and
Agnes who was a nurse.
Hugh's parents were John McLean and Janet Glover.

Hi Folks
I have some information from the 'Lubeck School Centenary 1983' book,
compiled by Alan Nelson, Leslie and Carl Loeliger. This includes those who
signed a petition for a school at Marma in 1874, photo of Lubeck pupils
circa 1913, (some of them named), photo of Marma pupils about 1887, (most
named), list of Lubeck pupils, Lubeck SS honour roll for both wars, Marma
pupils 1879-1897 and 1914-1932, and a list of family names that were
probably represented at the Marma school in its early years.
