4. [AUS-VIC-West] Bostock diary [1]
Dear Friends, I have just have a 'quick' look through some diary pages c.1905 and some c.1909-10. Life was still very busy, around the time that Augustus had his 77th birthday... They were still residing at "Marramook" c. 1904 (I think) and I could not help have a smile, when they lived in Warrnambool, that the diary shows he still grazed sheep or cows; he still sold and attended sales; his children were visiting all the friends and families from Quamby, Weeripnong, Minjah, Yambuk and a host of others

March 10, 1916 It will be learnt with feelings of deep regret that Mr Chas. KEYTE, whom was struck with the end of a piece of fencing wire, and who, under the advice of Dr. BIRD consulted a Melbourne eye specialist, has had the injured eye removed, there is some probability that the other eye will become impaired if not lost. G'day Thelma, what a treasure trove you have come by in all these books you have. In this particular posting from 'Gus's account books you mention the name Patterson, if this is the same bloke as managed the bank I am not interested, BUT, if it another Patterson then I am very interested. Would I be asking too much for you to have a look for me? Col Paterson Banj, (Remove 'at' from my Email address B4 sending) banjo1@atbigpond.net.au
16. [AUS-VIC-West] Jockeys - JEFFERY [1]
Dear Listers (on 3 separate lists), My grandfather William Peter JEFFERY (born May 1867 and raised perhaps in the Geelong District) was reputed to have a brother who was a JOCKEY. This would probably have been in the 1870-1920 period I guess. Can someone please help me get started in searching for jockeys of this surname. - Did they have to be registered? - Were the successful ones at least written up in the papers of the time. - When did a central racing authority get established? - etc, etc. With

23. [AUS-VIC-West] Old House in Apsley [1]
G'day List members, I was browsing Picture Australia web site when I came across an old house in Apsley, built by Mr CHASTON. The house was probably built by James CHASTON, who learnt his carpentry skills from my great grandfather, Abraham CRABTREE. The CHASTON, CRABTREE families, are linked as well by marriage and so doubles my interest. My question to the list is. Does anyone know where the house is or was in Apsley ? It can be viewed on the Picture Australia site by searching with the word Chaston. http

25. Fw: [AUS-VIC-West] Higgins - Warrabine, Mt Mercer, etc [1]
Hello Roger Yes Marida Yallock is out of Camperdown I think between Camperdown and Terang near Mt Emu Creek. It was the name of the property not an actual place I think. It was taken over from Stephen Ewin by Daniel McKinnon in 1853 and was a pastoral property. McKinnons still had the property when I was a child . . . don't know about now.
