3. [AUS-VIC-West] Re: Dr. BYASS [1]

And although the family was positively teeming with doctors, there was no Dr Henry Byass in Aus. Well, if you prove me wrong I'll be delighted. Dr Lovel Byass, born Arundel, Sussex 23/1/1812, son of John Byass, surgeon, of Arundel, who came to Australia in 1836 and settled at Portland with the Henty's whom he knew from Sussex. Hi Eileen If this is Allan MCDONALD who settled in Hamilton I've been looking for his background for ages. Wife Sarah GILLIS. Only hiccup is I have Donald born in 1857, unless they lost the first one. Three of their children married into my HOLMES family. One of the girls had CAMERON as a second Christian name. Exciting! 15. [AUS-VIC-West] Sheep Run "Arida", BYASS, Henry c1850 [1]
Hi Listers, I'm trying to find out if this station really existed, somewhere in the old Wimmera District. It's referred to in "Pastoral Pioneers of Port Phillip" by Billis and Kenyon, but not in "Victorian Squatters" by Spreadborough and Anderson, which I think might be more accurate. The owner is given as Henry Byass, but all the other references to Henry in the book are wrong - it's actually Dr Lovel Byass from Portland. We have some information about Dr Lovel Byass, but almost none on Henry (b. 1826)
16. [AUS-VIC-West] Murdered or Missing? [1]
My g-g-grandparents, James Kerr & Jane Townley were married in Belfast in 1843 and emigrated to Australia in 1856, arriving in Hobart and then crossing to Victoria - to Buninyong, then settling in the Cobrico district. Jane died in 1911, aged 91 & is buried in Terang Cemetery. According to family lore however, James decided at some stage to return to Scotland to visit Jane's parents. He withdrew 800 pounds and was last seen drinking in a pub at Colac with a man who later on seemed to have come into so
