1. Help needed please. [1]
Hi, I am new to this particular list and am hoping some kind people can help me out with a problem ancestor. This is what I have so far: Charles Henry MARCHANT born 1/11/1882 in Kensington SA died on 20/10/1963 Alice Springs, a letter I have states he also resided in WA. My grandmother thinks he was married there, children she can remember are Noel/Neil and Molly. Noel/Neil died overseas during the war. This is all I know of this family. Anyone that can give me some help, or advice on where to start woul

3. Montague & Ruth AMOS [1]
Hello Listers Please can anyone help with any information about this family to assist an overseas researcher? Montague and Ruth AMOS married in UK c.1922 and departed for WA. By 1925 Montague was back in the UK sans wife and son and married again in 1926. I found a Douglas Montague AMOS buried in Karrakatta Cemetery who died at Northcliffe 1/7/1924 aged 1. This name & date seems unlikely to be co-incidence. This would suggest to me that they were part of the Group Settlement Scheme. Did Ruth die in th

Dear WA genes Over the years I have never really needed to check later WA BDMs . I knew we had some WA BDMs fiche in my local library In helping a UK gene I came to a screeching halt this morning. I found ref to a Ruth AMOS marrying in 1927 ref 78F Perth Do you have to spend $30 on a copy of this record to see who she married ?????????? Maybe there is a later edition of these marriage indexes available and my local library has the old ones ?????????? Appreciate some local advice please Than
5. Re: [AUS-WA] How do I find out who she married ? [1]
Hi Marg You can't search Karrakatta website without a surname but you CAN search with just the first letter of the surname, so using that trick I found the only 'Ruth Sylvia' buried there. Trouble is she would have been too young to marry in 1921 - unless the age given at death is wrong. So maybe she died somewhere else. 21. Re: [AUS-WA] How do I find out who she married ? [1]
Hi Marg, Unfortunately, marriage indexes after 1905 for WA are not cross indexed. The only way to find out who she married without buying the certificate would be to check all the 1927 marriages and match the reference place and number. G'day All My ggrandfather Andrew BROWN was born WA 1865. He married in Vic in 1887. His brother William born WA. In 1887 he was in Vic witnessing his brothers marriage. What I am unclear on is how they came to Vic from WA. Was there 'national' shipping in the 1800's i.e.: ships that only sailed to other Australian ports or would they have come to Vic by a ship that came from o/s and called into WA to disembark and embark passengers? If this is the case how would I find out what ship they came on, what port
