I believe I am a decendant of this Thomas Ayer through his daughter Ann (Peggy) Elizabeth who married a McGee or Megee. Do you have any information on her? I know my ggrandmother was Mary Ann Catherine McGee (b) 1848 Tascaloosa Co. AL.(m) David A. Weeler. Any help would be appreciated.

My info on the Thomas Ayer I know about is that he was born in Scotland in about 1723 and moved to Ireland and from there settled in Virgina. In about 1758 moved to Marlboro District of South Carolina. Captain of SC militia, I think, and, allegedly, Lord Rawdon put a price of 50 gold pieces on his head during the war. Married Sarah Francis Malone in Ireland and had 3 children - Hartwell, Elizabeth, and Lewis Malone Ayer. Died about 1781 and was buried at his home in SC. Hope this helps - Hope it is th

Let me know what you find out about his parents, I need to know also. I realized after I sent the message that I think he and Sarah Malone had more then three children - the three I mentioned are the ones I know about from family info. Also, I looked searched the messages for Thomas Ayer and found that many have information on him and some, expectedly, is somewhat different then mine. Good luck - Mac Matson
