Hi Im a first time user of Ayrshire rootsweb.com. I am researching my great grandmother's family who lived at Dalry, Ayshire. My great grndmother was a Catherine McMillan, b 1838? Quite an interesting family, let me explain. Apparently Catherine came from a wealthy family in Dalry, they employed an irish stablehand, a John Clair. In 1855 Catherine aged 17 eloped with the stablehand, John Clair to Tasmania, Australia where they married in 1856. I have a record of her as an assisted imigrant to Tasmania
