Looking for relatives of Mary SHEDDEN, b. abt. 1835 in Fenwick, Ayrshire; m. 1858 to Robert CHRISTIE in Barrhead, Lanarkshire; and d. 1924 in Barrhead. I believe her parents were James SHEDDEN, b. abt. 1815, and Jean WALKER, b. 1814, in Beith or Fenwick.

Hi: I was born in Coylton, last name Davidson, Fathers name John Cuthbert Davidson. Grandmother's name Fanny Adamson, Grandfathers name John Davidson, could this be a relative? As far as I know related to Wallace's but not sure how.

I am looking for 3 books "about" Scotland and I am unable to locate them in Canada through local booksellers; I believe they are books printed in the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions? The books are: The Scotland of Robert Burns by John Strawhorn;The Kilt For Keeps by Gideon Scott May;and The Croft and The Ceilidh by Gideon Scott May. (I do have the ISBN numbers,also). I have connections with the Drinnans of Tarbolton although I haven't made the connection with Pollock or Spiers yet - have you any other info on the Drinnan side. There are a few Spiers buried in Tarbolton Churchyard and many Drinnan/Drennans. If you contact me direct, I'll see what I can do for you.

A Niven Agnew (died 11/2/1799) married Elizabeth McCrea (died 11/8/1848, aged 91 at Balscalloch, Kirkcolm Parish). Believe this same Niven lived in Leswalt (neighbouring Parish to Kirkcolm) at one time. There is a Norma Agnew, Po Box 371, Mt Omnaney, Brisbane 4074, Queensland, Australia who may be connected. 11. John Sharp/Jean Doig [1]
Looking for PARENTS and SIBLINGS of John Sharp who married Jean Doig (daughter of Robert Doig and Jean Stevenson) 26 Feb. 1842, Kilmaurs. They had daughter Jean 16 Mar 1844, Beith; daughter Janet in June of 1846, Irvine; and son Robert 6 April 1859, Irvine. In 1859 they left Scotland for the U.S. and settled in La Salle, La Salle County, Illinois. John died in 1877 and Jean died in 1902. Any and all information greatly appreciated.

I don't think I can help you but I have some information that may be worth keeping in mind or researching further. I have a Daniel Black Lambie who married Jeanie Gemmell in 1881. Daniels grandmother was Janet Gray born about 1810. Jeanie Gemmell born 1860, her parents Hugh Gemmell and Mary McFee. Because I think families stuck together in those days - through the generations. It may be an idea to find more info on Hugh and Mary Gemmell and see if they where raising an Annie! The census may be the key? The

I know my Great great grandfather was born in West Kilbride in 1842. Robert and Jean were married in West Kilbride as well. I am not sure where George and David were born.

They look like a couple of the names in my family tree although not in the direct line. I have a James Bryden (b.9.11.1820 at Dailly) who married Elizabeth Hay (b.Mar.1821 at Coylton) at Coylton on 14.6.1844. James Bryden is a brother of Stewart Bryden, my G.G.Grandfather. Their parents were Montgomerie Bryden (b.1797) & Margaret Rowe (b.1797 in Ireland) who married on 23.12.1814. Ginger, My GGrandfather Adam Houston b Kilmarnock abt 1825 married a Margaret Jones in 1849 in Glasgow or Elsewhere. One of the Banns was raised in Glasgow but the place of the marriage is unknown. Could this be your Margaret Jones? Regards Charles Houston

I saw yr. msg.to my niece jean Conway re-Timpany, My g/mother was Janet Timpany b. 1876 married my g/father Robert Robb Conway in Ayr ,1894. I have a census report for 1891 which states that the Conway family were living at Burnfoot hill,Dalmellington listing 3 of the men as ironstone miners.
