I just received copies of my great-grandparents and my great-great grandparents marriage certificates. Both are signed by the Justice of the Peace. Can I assume the ceremony was a civil ceremony or was the certificate just verified/registered by the Justice of the Peace and was performed by somebody else at a different location? Any ideas? Barbara P.S. Does anybody know if it is legal to scan and post vital records on the internet for genealogical purposes? Some of the document say that they are not
