If I recall correctly, from his War of 1812 pension papers, he enlisted from
Washington County, NY. However, I've not been able to find the enlistment
papers to find more info, such as birthplace.

Seaching for descendents of T. G. Babcock of Southington, Ohio, born 1809 in
Lebanon, NY . Thaddeus was the oldest child of John and Clarissa Harlow

Babcock.
His sister, Adaline Amelia Babcock Bosworth, was my g-g-grandmother.
Do you know the sibblings of Thaddeus?
Wilma Horton
Diane,
He could have been in Ashtabula County at some point. Most of the records I
have for him are from Lake and Geauga Counties.... marriage, property
ownership, census reports, etc. from 1844 to about 1900.

Very interesting. My grandmother always said we were related to Jean Harlow
(the 1950's movie star) and when I was young I had people tell me I looked
like her. Never knew with what connection. I'll have to look at your
Harlow/Babcock connection more closely.

Where in Ohio? Ashtabula County?

Washington County as his enlistment place for the War of 1812 is the best
I've been able to do. He shows up on census reports after he's in Ohio with wife
and family.
Diane
I would also be interested in his siblings. My GGGrandfather was also in
Ohio. He was born in Sweden, NY about 1820. I don't know any of his family,
parents or siblings. Benjamin Babcock, my brick wall..
Mike Gillmore
Okay, he's a little later than my David R. Babcock, although it's possible -
even likely - that they're related. I suspect, but can't prove, that David's
father was named Benjamin. There was a Benjamin Babcock who arrived from NY
with "several sons". My David was born about 1790-1795.
