Unfortunately, the DNA only follows the male side of the family. Females can trace the most maternal side of their lineage from mother to mother to mother as long as there have been no males in that part of their line. I don't understand that test as well since that name changes every generation. I haven't done enough reading to know just how far back that work goes to differentiate between, say, 7 generations back and 10. Here's a link where you can get more info. on DNA testing and on the Baber/Babe

I was told my Joe Baber that the female DNA will not work for the family line. I also, had my husband do his DNA for his Stephens line and on that web site it also told me that this is indeed the case. Check with Joe maybe something new has come out to have this done. I wish it were true. thanks Glenda Stephens In a message dated 12/09/08 09:37:30 Pacific Standard Time, Michele.Spangler@va.gov writes: Can't we have this done to the remaining female of the family line also? 16. [BABER] DNA Project [1]
Are there any updates on the Baber family DNA project? I would like to encourage any American male members of the Baber family to have this testing done to better verify the connection between the American and English lines. Eric had the test done and it is totally painless. It only involves a couple of cheek swabs. His test confirmed that he and Joe Baber are close cousins. 20. John Baber, son of Robert Baber, born abt 1684 [1]
Dear Baber Family, I wanted to show you an error in our files that has existed for many, many years. The following John Baber now has a birth date of about 1732. I have always been a little suspect of John Baber's line having all these Lincoln Co. North Carolina connections and having two sons named John Baber. It has been learned recently from a BARBER researcher that this information actually is about JOHN BARBER in Rutherford Co. NC and does not belong to our family in any way. The following informa
21. More about John Baber, b. 1732 [1]
Dear Baber Family, Anyone descended from the line of Robert Baber, b. about 1684 or of an unconnected family line in our files should pay close attention to this letter. In an earlier email today I corrected family information for John Baber, born about 1732, son of Robert Baber, born about 1684. This Robert Baber, 1684 was the son of Robert Baber, our American immigrant. The deleting of the marriage of John Baber, who turned out to be actually JOHN BARBER, to Sarah Martin and all the listed children ex

My curiosity was peaked and I found that it was a typo. The artist is Alice Barber Stephens. I found there was a famous artist, Alice Baber in this century but she was born in 1928 and she was famous for abstract, not children's art. This link convinced me the seller was wrong in the spelling: http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/r?pp/cai:@OR(@field(AUTHOR+@band(Stephens,+Alice+Barber,+1858-1932,+artist.+))+@field(OTHER+@band(Stephens,+Alice+Barber,+1858-1932,+artist.+))) This LONG link may have to be
