Mona,
Stemmer's Run would be a little south of there and east.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&
addtohistory=&searchtab=home&address=&city=&state=&zipcode=21237
Stemmer's Run Road connects to Eastern Avenue right near route 702.

The Tickner records are at the Maryland Historical Society. The William
Cook Records and another funeral home records from Sparks area are at the
Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home in Towson. You should contact Andrew Calwell
at jacalwell@comcast.net
Also the Johnson Funeral home as some ones records but I need to think about
this one. I haven't thought about whose records they have in a long time.
If you have Harford County relatives let me know and I will give you the
information on those funeral records.
Peggy:
S. Kann Sons & Company was a department store located on 7th St., N.W.
Washington, DC. I can't remember the year they went out of business. They were
located just up the street from Lansburgh's Dept. store (also out of business
many years ago).

Hi,
I think I called John F. Denny about the Tickner (sp?)Funeral Home records--also a similar situation to yours--the funeral home went out of business and the records were left in the building. B
Mona,
If you will just forward to me two or three of the bounce notices
(ideally from at least two different sources) I think I can help you to
decipher what is causing this. I have managed mailing lists at RootsWeb
and other places for many years and analyzed hundreds of bounced messages.

Mona (& other list members) - does delivery fail because the email
address is not good or because the recipient has email blocking or
their mailbox is full? My understanding is that AOL was going to start
blocking rootsweb mail but your individual email should still go
through. I haven't had a problem but I also have only sent a few
off-list replies.

Can someone direct me to a site that shows the various census districts
for Baltimore County? Specifically, I am interested in the boundries of
the 2nd district in 1830.
I am researching Wheelers in the Baltimore area, and I think I have
found my ancestor Joseph Wheeler and his father in law, Andrew Thompson,
living in the 2nd district in the 1830 census.
Thanks

Mona - Maybe it is a problem with MSN? Your messages sent through the list
are OK, but your personal ones directly to me get labeled SPAM. Perhaps MSN
is on "the list."

If you have an ancestry membership, you can search by location and
place of birth for 1900 census, for example (I just did a quick check).
I entered Baltimore Election District 8, born in Ireland, and got back
245 persons. Thanks for the suggestion, because I located my John
Kilroy (my g-gf) whose name was listed as Killay in the index!
If I get time later, I will check a few other years, and whether
occupation is a possibility for those years as well.

Thanks Lee - I don't own any rootsweb lists (but do have several with
yahoo) - I was being unsubbed from one of my rootsweb lists due to a
block message from my ISP. I have modified my blocked message to
include information suggested by that rootsweb list owner to try to
avoid the automatic unsub - to wit

I live in California and I would like to use Heritage Quest to do research
involving Baltimore ancestors. Does anyone know if any Northern California
libraries have access to Heritage Quest?
Any information and/or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, List,
I am unsubbing now, as I am having my knee replaced Wednesday and need to be doing other things besides genealogy!
I will be away from my computer for about 2 weeks--maybe less if I can manage.
Anyway, if you need me, you can try to send a personal email until I am back on-list.
Thanks to all who have sent their good wishes.
I'll miss you and will be looking forward to getting back into the conversations.

last weekend I put the latest update of the obits on-line up. We know have

In MD wills/probate records were kept at the state level from 1634 to 1776
(That was a good thing).
then it shifted to the counties
There seems to be some mix of records that Baltimore CIty took over though,
as I have seen archives on families that were only in the County coming
from the city records.
