Where would I look to find ship's passenger records for people
travelling from the Batschka around 1912-1915? How about 1920-1925?
What port(s) were they likely to leave from? The people I'm looking for
were from Batsch and Miletitsch, and entered the U.S. through Ellis
Island. I have dates of arrival for some of them but not all.

I was unable to get to this site today. In fact, I couldn't reach
anything on www.genealogy.net or home.genealogy.net, although I could
access www2.genealogy.net without any trouble. Anyone have any ideas
what the trouble is? Just busy today, or what?

While we're on this subject (more or less), why would an entire ship
carrying Batchkaers bound for the U.S. be rerouted to South America
(evidently without ever docking in the U.S.)? Our best guess for the
year would be between 1920 and 1925 (based on the marriage date, 22 Jan

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions about why a ship would be
rerouted to South America. What South American countries would have
been most common for them to have been routed to? We know for certain
that they made it to South America and settled there, because letters
were exchanged between them and their family members in America.
However, none of the family now living remembers what country it was.

When you research the surnames Weinschrott and Herold, I would guess
that you are a decendent of a North Dakota Banater.

information through the Rumanian Archives but was not successful due to the

Does anyone know if there is an internet site that lists the names of Alien

Kassa is now Kosice, Slovakia. It is not far from Przemysl (now in Poland),
a fortress that saw heavy fighting with the Russians. The Russians launched
an offensive into Austrian Galicia (Lember/Lvov, Przemysl) in the fall of
1914. As I recall, the front lines settled along the line of the mountains
north of Kosice and Presov. Kassa would have been a logical rear area where
the wounded would be transported. Varano is harder to pinpoint. Could be

I just received the Banat flag that Alex Leeb got for me. It is a beautiful polyester 30 X65 inches which shows through on both sides with the red, black green white and gold emblem. The "banner" colors are white and green. Now I need a flagpole to put it on if I want to put it outside. That size would fit nice on a wall also...It's almost too nice to put outside....

Hello, I am trying to find the ship my mother arrived on in Ellis Island in
1925. Her name was Suzanne Harter. She was 6 years old, and with her
parents Joseph and Katherine Harter from Lenauheim, Romania. She was
detained because they were concerned her droopy eylids were a contagious
disease. I'm wondering if this detained passengers list would help me find
the passenger ship. I would appreciate any help in finding her ship.
Thanks, Barbara Angebrandt

We attended the GRHS (German Russia Heritage Society) Convention July

established as a 501 C-3 non profit North Dakota corporation in 1971. It

I need some advice on how to get information on Minnesota Naturalization Records and also Alien Registration Records. I finally have some information on my g grandparents and grandparents not much, but maybe it can develop into something more. Also, another question, has any one heard of Americanization Survey Cards, what were they and how to access the records of them if they exists. Thanks; Barbara Anne Washington State
