I routinely wire transfer huge sums of money to Belgium, directly to the
account of my supplier. These days I send $US, but a few years ago wired
currency in the form of Belgian francs, the exchange being made in the
international department of my bank. This may be acceptable to whomever you
are dealing, however, I would warn you that each transaction now costs
$32.50. The advantage here is that it is almost instantaneous except for
the time difference, and you have a receipt. It may be more pr

I have just located my Uncle's Declaration of Intention ( My Mother's
brother , Joseph Zeller), and, contrary to previous information, he was
born in Neu Arad, not Sanktnikolaus.,( as his parents, Joseph Zeller and
Agnes Finster, were.) and arrived on the" Amerika," not the "Carpathia,"
as his Father did. Written after the town is " Jemes, Yemes, or

Two LIEHN brothers? I have my g-grandfather Ioan Liehn born in Sercaia in

Theresa,
I just spoke with my mother. She said there ARE Rauners who were members of
the Banaters Club my family was associated with too. All these people are
from Segenthau. She hasn't seen them for a long time but remembers Theresa
Rauner. My ggrandmother, THERESA HAMANN ZIMMER, would have been born in the
1860s. Is it possible ANNA HAMANN is a sister or cousin
Lorette;
No matter what kind of ship they came on passengers would have to pass
through immigration. They have to be in the records somewhere.
Is it possible your people came by way of England? If so, they could
have come into Canada, Boston or New York. The Canadian crossing
records are catalogued under St Albans Vt in the LDS catalogue.

Dear Norman,
I am not privy to decisions made by the Romanian government or by the
internet sites you referenced in your email. But I do know that my
grandfather, born in the USA in 1901 to German Banaters who settled in ND
in 1889, told me that all correspondence from family left behind
in the Banat ceased in the 1930's. He attributed the cessation of
communication to the direct and indirect actions of the
government--perhaps death from starvation, perhaps relocation under stress
or duress.

While I don't know why you have concentrated your search on Slovenia, here's
an idea. By using some online gazetteers, there are a number of towns in
Northern Italy which could be your ancestor's origin. I didn't find anything
in Slovenia that matched a Trebenon phonetically (just a Trebelno - not too
close)
A better match is Tribano, Italy, which at some point could have been
Austria-Hungary, but I don't know if it was part of Yugoslavia ever. It
should be remembered that the immigrant probably

I am interested in finding out if you were charged for more fees after

My bank told me that it is possible that the banks along the way could have

If anyone is reserching the Rey name I have a tiny bit of info on Adam Rey who married Elizabeth Klugg. They were bothi born in Neu Arad but were living in Josefsdorf in 1895 for sure when their fourth child was born. Their first three children died young and then Anna was born and two more children, George and Katrina, after that. They left the area in 1899 or so for America, I believe.
