I am looking for information on Archie Bandy. He passed away in the
mid1970's. His wife was Emma Lilley Bandy. They lived around Selma
California. Any help appreciated.

Hi Everyone,
Those interested can view info on my family line by visiting http://www.Bandy.co.uk
Some of the dates probably don't jive with what everyone has, and there are certainly omissions of names as I am still digging, changing, and adding.
There are 198 people, 60 marriages, and 51 surnames represented, including BANDY, CHEEK, STURGELL, WARD, BRANHAM, and others.
I expect to be sending more and updating soon. Please feel free to e-mail your corrections and comments to me. Remembe
Hi Folks,
Seems lots of people have had a hard time accessing the address to this site, so perhaps I goofed somewhere. Sorry for the trouble everyone.
The site owner sent the following in an e-mail:

Hope this works for anyone wanting to see the info there. There's more than just stuff about the Bandy name, so it's worth a look. Who knows?
Also, without intending to do so, apparently my wording has led people to believe this is MY site. The site was started by D

Hi everyone!
Found a letter signed "Yours truely and loving father,R A Bandy to son Silas Peter Bandy "
dated Oct. 29, 1883. ..but it begins " R A Bandy to Silas Jr." The "R" looks a bit like a "B"
I believe R A was born in 1845 as he is 5 in the 1850 KY census.
Son Silas "Peter" Bandy lived in Ft. Worth later and had brothers named George Thomas( called "Tom"),and "Dickey" ( written over a picture) that we know of. There is a pic of their sister labeled only " Sis Bandy") It's tough when
New subscriber here.
Has anyone any information about Joseph Bandy, active around Bucknell and
Bicester, north Oxfordshire, during 1880 to 1882, at least? He was heavily
involved in the cricket clubs at both places, and was also a dancer with the
Bucknell Morris side.
Those interested in seeing a Bandy face should go to :
http://ds.dial.pipex.com/phil.day/gpt27.htm
On the photo of the Bucknell Morris Dancers, Joseph Bandy is second from left.
I have dated this photo, on strong evidence, to May 1882.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of 10 young women taken at the Myklebust
Studio in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The photograph was probably taken in the late
1890's or early 1900's with the girls all appearing to be in their teens at
the time. Each of the girls are named on the back of the photograph as
follows:
1 - Maude PLATT
2 - Roxy PARKHURST
3 - Clara COLE
4 - Bess HATHAWAY
5 - Fanny BANDY
6 - Hazel MOATS
7 - Blanch MCCURRY
8 - Alice MCCURRY

Judith,
I'm not trying to upset anyones apple cart but......
If you look closely to the 1850 Census....Lockie is living in a
household of her own....the numbers at the beginning of the page....denotes
another household. Powell and Harvey are her children. Also, after
her name in the next household is a Rhoda Bandy age 41 ...do you know who
she is?
In the 1860 Census in ILL...it's the same...she is living in her own
household with Powell and and her daughter Nancy who was born in 18
I had all this information for Cary and Frances except that she died in
Honey Bend, Montgomery Co., Illinois. That is really interesting. The last
sentence says they were both buried in Honey Bend Cemetery. Who is the
second person of "both"? Carey had died much later in Macon Co., Tenn. Did
they return his body to the Honey Bend Cemetery? Thanks for your help.

I just sent a reply to the bandylist that shows Lockey J. Bandy's parents as
Isaac Bandy and Lucretia on her marriage license to Oliver Bewley. The 1850
and 1860 censuses do not give relations of the children living with her so
it possible they are younger brothers and sister. In the 1900 census she
says she has had one child who is still living; that child is Adam Hefley.
I am also related to Serepta Meisenheimer whose husband Oliver Bewley
married also Lockey Jane Bandy, a relative of my children throu
Judith,
"Just a hunch" ....on the one marriage license of Lockie's...it meantioned
father as Issac...and mother's maiden name as Lucretia.....what about # 5
darn it fits or how the person heard what names Lockie gave or her future
husband stated!!!! OR this is possibly Lockie's first husband's parents
? No one is actually sure she is a Bandy by birth are they? Again,
another angle... Has anyone research Powell S. Bandy line?

Hi Rebecca,
Well, I suppose we are upsetting some apple carts in trying to figure this
out. First of all, some people refuse to believe that Lockey Bandy is a
lady and not a man. Someone told me that Lewis Riley's nickname was Lockey;
and three researchers have her as a man. At least some of us realize she is
a woman now.
I don't know if we'll ever get a positive handle on her and the children in
the 1850 census. It does not say they are her children. In some censuses,
the census taker was to write do
Hi Rebecca, I already have copies of both marriage certificates for Lockey
Bandy in Montgomery Co., IL.
Lockey Jane's first marriage to Matthias Hefley says she is MRS. Lockey
Bandy but further down the page she is referred to as Miss Lockey Bandy :
"I, Aaron Kean a Justice of the Peace hereby certify that on this day I
joined in Marriage, Mr. Matthias Heffley with MISS Lockie J. Bandy agreably
to the authority given in the above License."
On her marriage to Oliver Bewley, she gives the informati
Lockie Jane Bandy b. March 1825 Tennessee. Daughter of Lewis Riley Bandy
and Martha C. Short.
She was allso known as Lockey & Lottie. She had three children. Listed in
the 1850 Tennessee Census & the 1860 Illinois Census. Listed as Female in
both censuses even ;though other sources list Locky as a male. No other adults
are listed in either the 1850 or 1860 households.
1850 Says that Locky Bandy is 25 years old, female, born in Tennessee and
living in District 5, Macon, Tennessee.
1860
Does anyone have the birth and death dates for Cary Bandy and Frances Woods?

I would like to connect with anyone who has the following in their
BANDY, PEAIRS or Sumner County TN database.
Epson BANDY married Harriet PEAIRS (daughter of Jonathan and
Karonhappuck PEAIRS) in about 1822 in Sumner Co., TN I know nothing
else about this couple and would like to connect with others who knows
what happened to them. Did they have children? Did they stay in Sumner
County or did they migrate else where?
I will be most appreciative of any clue I am given.

the Oregon Archives have death certs from 1906 forward, but have not
been able to find Ed's. I appreciate your reply. I also got a list in the
index from another list member, and found another Edward, which was my
first ed's son and was married to Helen...it has the cert number and
everything...I am requesting that, but do not know if I can get it since
he only died in 1975 and I am not a direct line decendent of his...he was
my ggrandmothers brother. I feel that Oregon's archives are the best

Dear Barbara:
I just joined the Bandy list yesterday and your note was the first e-mail I
received
from the list and I am very excited that you have mentioned a connection to my
Bandy's. My gggrandparents were John Underwood and Cynthia Bandy. They
were married Dec. 17, 1822 in Kingston, Roane Co., Tn. I understand that she
was born in N.C. I do not know anything about her parents or siblings except
that there was a Jesse Bandy who married Artemissa Underwood on Dec. 21,
1822, in Kingston, Roane Co.
