United States census data is a critical resource for genealogical research.
The federal government began collecting population census data in 1790. Since
that time censuses have been taken every ten years. The most recent census
that is available to the public is the 1920 census. All of the 1890 census was
destroyed by fire - except for 6,160 names.

Dear Barker searchers,
If anyone has the papers which Jim has requested, I, too, would love to have
copies -of Edward and William's papers, too. I will gladly reimburse for
copying and postage fees. If someone has them and will send to me, I will
even type them up and submit them to Susan P to be published at the Barker web
page, so that more people can have access to the information (and I will
certainly give credit to the submitter of the papers). This would be
wonderful information to have at the web

As you can see, the [GB] has disappeared and [BARKER-L] is now back in
the subject line. Strange things happen on the internet, but this was
just bad timing on the part of the one message. Work was being done on
the RootsWeb lists which momentarily set the "prepend" to [GB]. So, now
we know.

I sent for the records of Wm. Barker's entry into the Army of the Republic of
Texas. There were 2 Wm Barkers who joined for Texas. One was my husband's
great great grandfather from LA. The other from NY. What I received was the
records of the NY Wm Barker. In 1840 he was 25 years olf, 5 ft. and 9 1/2
inches tall with blue eyes and light hair. He was by profession a (something
marked out) Soldier. If anyone thinks this might be their famuily I will
send this to you.
