I think these Barkers were dropped from a spaceship. My Hiram Barker,
couldn't from census to Census remember where He was born. One Census says
Indiana the next says KY. The next door neighbor, Allen Barker, was only
listed in the 1850 Census and listed KY.(That was the one Hiram listed IN.
I can't even prove they are related. Allen's Children were: Drucilla,
Sarah, Wilson, Lura, Lewis and John. Hiram's children were John, Juliana,
Allen, Drucilla. Sarah, William and Emeline. I suspect that Allen and

I would also guess that my Williiam H Barker was William Henry also. I feel
sure he was born in Ballard Co, KY. His parents were Sterling Barker and
Louann (Rotten). The family moved to Parker Co, TX bky 1860. Louann died
inn 1860 of consumption (TB). Their daughter Lucindy Elizabeth married John
H Cook in Miss Co, MO in 1855 who were my ancestors. I have been searching
for the parents of Sterling and Louann for a long time with no luck.
Sterling was born in NC in 1811 and Louann was born in TN in 18
Boy there is a lot of action on the Barker list.....
If any of you run across or know of a Martha Barker, born probably late seventeen nineties or very early eighteen hundreds, who married an Abraham Shockey I would sure be interested.
They had a daughter named Mary E. Shockey.

I hereby declare this James Barker Day. And I might do it again! I spent
almost the entire day looking for James S. Barker (I now think that is his
middle initial). They were in Goshen Gore, Caledonia, VT. 1820 and 1830. I
know they had a daughter born in NY about 1838 so I started looking in NY. In
1840 I found James S. Barker with two children under 5 and am pretty sure
that is him. The other dates fit. The older children seem to be gone. Then I
found in the same county -Cayuga - that there was Jame

Hello Diane,
I know this won't be the answer you're looking for, but I'm tossing it in for
good measure. My Barker's came to america in 1895. They moved around the
areas in NJ, NY, and Connecticutt. None of my Barker's have a middle name
that I know of, with one exception...John Emris Barker.

I'm glad that I am not the only one having problems with the Barker Line--My
husband could not even tell me his grandfathers correct name because he had
passed away and the grandmother later remarried a Bettis--I find the names
you are coming up with very intriguing though. Ron's grandfather turns out
to be Franklin Lewis Barker and his son--my father in law was Ross Dee
Barker. The Uncle James was never married and lived for some time before his
death with my in-laws and they inherited the farm in Clio, W
That was a nice story! Good for you. I have tried putting in all the names of

just keep poking at it and pretty soon it will all fall in place. It give the

Has anyone on this forum ever submitted an application for membership to
the Mayflower Society based on lineage through Robert Barker, husband of
Alice Snow, daughter of Abigail Warren, daughter of Richard Warren,
Mayflower passenger?
I am interested in pursuing this as a gift for my sister, and I understand
that if I include a copy of an already approved application, I don't need
to provide copies of sources shared with those already accepted. Needless
to say, this would make the process MUCH easier if a

The Francis Marion of Tn. was the son of Russell and grandson of Charles
, participant in the 1780 Battle of Kings Mountain from Washington
county, Va, This Charles was the son of John Barker and Martha Snead
of Henry/Pittsylvania/Hanover Va, Francis Marion served in Rhett's
Artillery in the CSA and had left the 21sr prior to their capture at
Cumberland Gap.
I assume the name of Francis Marion came from the Rev. WAr hero and that
this coincidence of two with the same name is explained this way.

Hi, According to the 1870 & 1880 Eaton Co. Michigan census
William Barker was born in England about 1814,
his parents were foreign,
his wife Elizabeth was born in New York.
They had two sons John who married Asrilla,
& Nathaniel (my ggr father) who married Caroline Mae Holmes.
Nathaniel & Caroline are buried in Forest Hills Cemetery, Evart, Michigan Mecosta Co.
Both John b. app 1845 & Nathaniel b. 1851 were born in New York, then moved to Michigan. Where in N.Y. I do not know.

Good suggestion on the DNA tests. I have already ordered this kit, and
figure at this juncture, this is the only way to find my elusive Barkers.
My brick wall is Henry Barker, b. about 1782-1787 in Virginia. Located in
Fayette county, Kentucky in 1807 when he married Catherine "Caty"
Bach/Bache/Back. They had three sons, John (b.1809), William (b. 1813) and
Joseph (b. 1816). Henry and his sons moved to the Perryville area around
1819, when he purchased land on the Chaplin River from Josiah and Nan
