1. RE: Jonathan Barnard [1]
Looks like you have some interesting info. I am more of a collector than a researcher, never had the opportunity to do real field work. I went with the "7 brothers line" because my mom's cousin had passed on his genealogy work including that idea. I have corresponded with Bruce Barnard over several years. He had intended to find proof for the 7BL, but finally came to the conclusion that there is nothing out there to support it and he has come to the conclusion that his Barnard ancestor he THOUGHT was a des
2. Jonathan Barnard [1]
Need information on parents of Jonathan Barnard who married Obedience Barnett in 1784 in Goochland County, Virginia. Jonathan was a Rev War soldier and settled on War Creek in Hawkins County, TN in the late 1700's. Where he lived is now Claiborne County, TN, I am told. He taught school until his eyesight failed him and he passed away in 1835 in Mercer County, KY. Obedience is buried in Claiborne County. No proof, but Jonathan could have been buried in Claiborne County, Tenn. I need help on ancestors

Larry, Don't know that there is proof to be had. The theory has been that Jonathan's father was John Barnard who was born in England, migrated to Massachusetts, and was one of the "7 brothers line". John Barnard is said to have died at the hand of "Indians" at Dentris Lick, TN. Although Jonathan and Obedience are pretty well documented, his parents and siblings are not. In fact, I have never heard of even a theory on Jonathan's mother. My mother's maiden name is Barnard and I am a descendent of Jonathan a

6. Barnard/Bernard researchers [1]
Barnard/Bernard Genealogy To all researchers of the Barnard or Bernard surname: I am one of a group of Barnard/Bernard family history researchers who are endeavouring to find links between bearers of the surname in North America and Great Britain, using the newest genealogical tool, that of Y-DNA testing. Males with common ancestors can be identified using this technique. We recognise that DNA testing alone cannot advance our search any more than using the IGI alone can. It is another tool that can
