1. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Holiday sale on DNA testing [1]
Family Tree DNA has announced a pretty good sale on DNA testing that is paid for before 12/31/08. I can't quote pricing here, but the cost of the 37 marker test (Y-DNA37) is almost down to what the 12 marker test was. This is probably a result of competition with some new companies in the DNA business, as well as fancy new equipment that makes the testing more efficient. FTDNA is by far the largest and best DNA company - fair, professional, responsive, etc. We recently had a

3. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Matching DNA for Perquimans Co, NC BARCLIFTS [1]
We just got in the DNA results of a second BARCLIFT - it's a 24/25 (very good) match between them; and now pretty much establishes their Perquimans Co, NC line. I need to find out more info on each of their lines to see where their common ancestor is and how they tie in. Now if we could just get a BARTLETT from this line to test, that would clinch it. 4. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Garner BARTLETT [1]
As many of you know, I believe Garner BARTLETT descends from William BARTLETT, who was born a BERKELEY, from the Loudoun Co, VA BERKELEYs. I have been searching for a descendant of this line to test this research. We already have matching DNA from 2 men, each of whom descends from a different son of William BERKELEY b 1690 of Loudoun Co, VA; and a DNA match with a BARTLETT descendant of Garner BARTLETT would mean Garner BARTLETT and his descendants are from the Loudoun Co, VA BERKELEYs. Well we now ha
5. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Summary of BARTLETT DNA on Web Site [1]
Everyone - I have posted the lineages of the BARTLETT lines in the DNA Project at the FTDNA BARTLETT Web Site - it's a few months old, and I'll be updating it soon. Do you like the FTDNA Web Site or the Summary I posted here better? I am happy to include name and/or email contact information to go with any DNA result, if you give me permission to do so. I could also just include your contact information with the family, if you are not associated with one of the DNA participants, but want to be listed as
6. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] BARTLETT BERKLEY link established with DNA - Correction and Addition [1]
The sentence near the end should read: If there are any BARTLETTs from Garner's line; or any BERKLEY/BERKELEYs from VA roots, you can NOW verify descent from this line with a matching DNA test. In other words, the "DNA signature" for this line from 1690 is now established - so anyone who gets a DNA test and matches, can assume descent from this line. Additional clarification: This DNA line, which I now call Group E, applies only to the BERKLEY/BERKELEYs from Westmoreland and Loudoun Co, VA and

Jeanie; The 4 who have matching DNA were listed in my original email - they include all male descendants of your Jonathan (DNA-90165) who had roots in Caroline Co, MD and then wound up in Conway Co, AR; all male descendants of Thomas BARTLETT c1655-1711 of Talbot Co, MD (DNA-76856); all male descendants of Thomas BARTLETT b 1782 GA, m 1805 SC, d 1838 TN (DNA-8557); and all male descendants of William BARTLETT b 1823 MS; d 1905 LA [parents b MD & TN] (DNA-19755) - this shows how powerful a tool the DNA te

11. Re: [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Question about Eli Bartlett [1]
Diane, If you are wanting actual proof of his ancestry, you could write to the Town Clerk in Brookfield for a copy of his marriage record. Also the Mass. Archives. It should give his and her parents names and places of their births. Not all Mass Town records are online through Newenglandancestors.com which is where I found these two records. Also, some of the children may have been born in another Town. There are like 55 pages of Bartletts in the online records so I didn't read through every one. My Ba

13. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] BARTLETT BERKLEY link established with DNA [1]
Very exciting news for many BARTLETTs and BERKLEYs - we now have 24/25 matching DNA results: One from William BERKLEY b 1690 of Westmoreland and Loudoun Co, VA through his son Benjamin BERKLEY Another from William BERKLEY b 1690 of Westmoreland and Loudoun Co, VA through his son William BARTLETT/BERKLEY William BARTLETT/BERKLEY d 1804 in Loudoun Co, VA - most of his children went to KY and in the census records from 1810 to 1840 they gradually changed their surname from BARTLETT back to BERKLEY/BERKEL

Hello! I am new to this group but here goes! Josiah Bartlett (2 Dec 1767, Conn. - 1 Nov 1856, Ohio) who married Anna Latham, is the son of William Bartlett (abt 7 1737, ? - ?) who married Margaret White. I would like to know more about Anna or Hannah Latham (abt 1776 or 1777, Vermont - 5 Aug 1832 - ?). I don't know who her parents were. Someone thought maybe Samuel Latham & Eunice Beardsley but not likely. Any suggestions? Regards, Patti Heimburger

20. Re: [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Thomas BARTLETT of Evesham, transported to Virginia 1637 (Jim Bartlett) [1]
Kelly; I've documented over 10,000 descendants of Thomas BARTLETT c1730-1806 of Richmond, Fauquier and Harrison Co, VA through his 15 children - the first ten were by wife Anne UNK; and the last five by wife Sarah CARROLL. I've written several stories about him (that I'd be happy to send you as an email attachment). And I've written about his brother John BARTLETT c1724-1807 of Richmond, Culpeper and Fluvanna Co, VA who married Anne SETTLE - three of their daughters named their daughters Anne Settle BALL
21. [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Thomas BARTLETT of Evesham, transported to Virginia 1637 [1]
Hello, all :) Is there any evidence for or against the assumption that Thomas BARTLETT of Evesham, transported to Henrico Co., Virginia, in 1637, is the progenitor of (at least) the BARTLETTS of Faquier Co., Virginia? Are there any records of a family with his wife, Elizabeth BRENT, in Virgina ? Thank you for your time. Kelly Paul Graham Hopuston, Texas
22. Re: [BARTLETT-ROOTS] Thomas BARTLETT of Evesham, transported to Virginia 1637 [1]
Kelly; There were a number of different BARTLETT families in Virginia in the late 1600s and early 1700s - I don't know how you would link Thomas BARTLETT of Evesham to any of them (although he might be the progenitor of one family. Colonial Virginia families Thomas BARTLETT b 1670 in Old Rappahannock Co, VA - we have DNA from this line, which establishes this line as a distinct BARTLETT line - was Thomas of Evesham still alive? Kelly; How do we know the Thomas of Evesham had a wife, Elizabeth BRENT? A Thomas BARTLETT of Westmoreland Co, VA, sometimes also spelled BERKLEY, with several records in the 1667-1700 timeframe had a wife Margaret, often linked to Margaret BRENT, dau of William BRENT.... could this be the same? Kelly; I like the way you think, and the effort to try to tie these BARTLETTs together. I've been working on it for 30 years, and haven't found sufficient links, yet. I guess I'm saying I can't prove or disprove your theory. However, we have made some progress in the past few years with the BARTLETT DNA Project. Within the past year we've gotten at least 2 DNAs from each of the 2 major MD BARTLETT families (Somerset Co, and Talbot Co - both go back to the 1600s). The DNA shows these to be two very dif

Jo Carolyn; I did that only because Nathan's descendant's DNA is off by two from all the others - he could also be a brother; and Joseph and Joshua could be cousins. We won't know for sure until we find their parents, or some other DNA input. I sure wish we could find another, widely separated, descendant of Nathan to participate in the DNA Project.
