Hi Carolyn,
The Name Report .pdf derived from our Master GEDCOM Family Tree Maker file is in a certain standardized format called Portable Document Format. (We needed to do this because the Plain Text report format displays so badly).
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cbard/GEDCOM/MasterGEDCOMNameReport.pdf
(we presently have 2171 persons in our Master GEDCOM!)
Any problems you have in accessing this file (see above link) should be resolved by downloading and installing the latest Adobe Acrobat R
Janet:
I know that the Beard and Baird names were used interchangeably quite
often.
I have been through quite a few beards and Bairds and am now centered on
the Beards and bairds of Abbeville SC.Even there ---there were
bairds and Beards that came through different lineages. And a number of
them settled in Places like Ky. Ms. Ala.Ga. etc. Any thoughts on this?

Curtis,
I have been watching the "chat' from the sidelines. My Beard family was
from Kentucky. Grandmother born in 1886 to ?, her uncle was Edgar, aunt was
Settie, her grandfather was Moses. Anything on them or Kentucky Beards in
your book. I have been trying to determine her father's name.
Thank you,

My question is I browsed through the PDF file....Has no one sent a "Beard"
gedcom to you yet? It is hard to scroll through 40 pages looking at names
that are not in order. I do understand how this could be helpful, but I as I
am sure alot of others are reluctant as I am to send thier gedcoms. I would
like to read some feed back from other Beard list members about this.

Hi. I am pretty new to this list. I was on it a while back and left
to take care of personal things. I will post my Beards again later.
I'l like to ask it you have the newest Adobe reader? I have Adobe
Reader 6.0 and I think that is the newest free one. On one of my list
earlier there was a link to a free program that speeds up the loading
of the reader. I found it to work wonderfully. I run XP Home 2002.
I haven't heard of any problems but I don't know for sure. You might
try seeing if your reader
Hi Lynn,
I have a relative from Kershaw South Carolina, he had 5 children, his son
Jonathan M. Beard went on to have 10 more...I wonder if any of their children are
related. The year of birth for the 10 range from 1810-1832...I have their
names but not their childrens, with the exception of the one I'm descended
from...Anyway, our family would eventually move to Georgia; Athens, Hall County,
Buford. Let me know if this is of any use.

Debra,
Usually a "report" is one of a number of possible ways of *displaying*
your data.
The GEDCOM is not particularly associated with the display of data, but
rather with the transfer of data. Most genealogy programs allow users to
export or Save As... a GEDCOM file, which is really just a text file
that is set up in a certain standardized way, that allows it to be
imported into almost any other genealogy program. So your genealogy
application should specifically refer to the file format it is savi

Lynn,
Thank you for that information. Given that the number of Beards on
this
side of the Atlantic around that time was limited, I hope to someday
sort
out siblings and parents of Charles. Any otherwise unidentified Beards
(such as Samuel) remain possibilities until found otherwise.
Cheers!

Hi Joyce,
You must be doing something right, as the message I am replying to
posted ok on the BAIRD-L list.
There have been various problems on the mail lists since Rootsweb
updated their spam and security software.
I'm not the BAIRD-L list administrator, but you should be able to
contact that person by e-mail (below).
(They can check the list admin "Blocked" page, and post messages that
otherwise won't be posted, and perhaps give you more posting assistance.)

List members and DNA contributors,
I'm still learning how to do things with the DNA data, sites and results.
Here is the latest Marker data I just put up on our RootsWeb BARD DNA
Web site.:

(If you see anything incorrect or anything you want changed, please let

It may take awhile and more participation before we see any significant
trends or probabilities concerning donor's results.
You can do some fun searches, and learn more here
We've had some sparatic participation in our Look-up Program, but we

Can we get BEARD on the subject line please?

Hi Jim,
Yes, if it is an original 1908 (not a 1979 or other reprint), these are
very hard to come by, and I would definitely call it a collector's item.
Don't forget to send in your GEDCOM for our new Master GEDCOM program if
you have BARDs, BAIRDs, or BEARDs in your line! (Send it directly to me
as an e-mail attachment.)
Best,
