6. [BEL-R] "Black Belgian" and Spanish Garrissons [1]
With regard to what Luc Matthijs commented in his last E-mail , I have an additional question : In my ancestor's list I found a Maria Catharina Ladios : she married Petrus Leleu and there was at least one son, born 3 jan 1758 in Hollebeke. I searched the surname Ladios and found out that it is a very rare name in Europe : about 20 are found in Spain (almost all of the same city in Spain) , 3 in Greece and nowhere else in Europe. So it is justified I think to assume that our Maria Catharina Ladios too is f

Hi Evelyn, I don't think your missing anything. I too live out in the area, and have never heard of Misere. I also asked my dad about it,as he grew up in the area and knows it quite well. If there was I guess I am missing too. I can check tomorrow at the Algoma History center as I will be there...I volunteer as a worker there. I will see what I can find. Might I ask what surnames you are looking for? I can gather some information for you. Or if you have time come on down to the Center and I can help you find

25. [BEL-R] John Camille MARCHAND [1]
My Great Grandfather was born in Belgium (according to the 1901 UK census). He married in Kent, UK on 25 December 1899 and died in 1946 aged 70. This means that he was born in 1876. With this bare minimum of information, how can I trace his birth and ancestry please? I have searched on IGI, but the only candidate was a John BAPTISTE Marchand, born in Overijse, Brabant. He may of course have changed his name for some reason, but this is pure conjecture. If he had been born in England, a check of the rel
