Hello,
I understand some listers have copies of the Venesoen
Reports books. Would one of you mind looking for an
ancestor for me please? I'm looking for:
Louis VanHooreweghe from Adegem, Belgium. The US 1920
census of Rock Island, Illinois says he came to the US
in 1910.
I can not find him in the Ellis Island records, but
then again, those records sometimes have difficulties
with spellings.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Sally Furuiye

The Ruth Van Waerebeek book is an excellent source -- if you're looking for Flemish recipes. For Waloon recipes -- I'd suggest:
1. Our Marchant Relatives - by the Rentmeesters, or
2. a Belgian Recipe book which was write by Margaret Draize -- She lives in Brussels, WI. (Not too far from you)
Both do well on the Waloon foods I grew up with in NE WI.

Hi
I have several family documents (marriage, birth, communion, christening records) from Belgium. They look to be in Latin since they are mainly from church documents. I was wondering if anyone knew Latin well enough to help in translating these into English.

I believe Fr. Jim was a member of this list and I'm sure some of you may
have corresponded with him in the past. He was pastor of our parish and
will truly be missed. He was a great person.

Hi Gene,
"in his house on the Vinkenberg in the town of Zichem". Vinkenberg
(mount of finches) is a still existing hilly street in Scherpenheuvel to
