On a recent research trip to the UWGB-ARC, I was thrilled to find the 1865
State Census of Red River township. I thought others might also find it
interesting. Names are read to the best of my ability-- hopefully my
spelling is no more 'creative' than Mr. Martin, the enumerator.
Hope this helps someone- Linda

Hi, again!
Look tomorrow on the web page http://membres.lycos.fr/hbarnich/grendel.htm
I sent a map on the web with the region between Selange and Parette.
On the map(printed in 1922), you will find THIAUMONT = Diedenhoven
Like VIVILLE was Altenhoven, FOUCHES was OFFEN, HACHY was HITZIG (or
Hertzig, depending we were using Deutsch or Letz gesprache,) SCHOCKVILLE was
Schockweiler, SELANGE was Selingen, Grendel is still GRENDEL (sometimes
spelled in Grendl) TONTELANGE was Tontelingen, FREYLANGE was Freylingen

Hi,
One of the remaining items on my 'To do' list as web master of the
Belgium-Roots site was our logo. It's now done . I've created the _first_
version of the logo for our project.
Some months ago I did ask to submit proposals for a logo. I thank all
those who have submitted their ideas. But when reviewing them I did realize
that the logo is closely linked to the house style of the site.
So I've finally decided to design myself the logo, after I was sure what
would be the 'definitive' style of th
I am looking for any information on the ART family from Belgium. My great grandfather was Rene Art, wife Antionette Pi(e)rson. He came to the USA sometime between 1890 and 1925, with his three children: Blanche, Renee, Jules Leon. I need help on where in Belgium they came from and how to begin my research in Belgium. . Please email me at cnt@mtco.com if you have any data on this family. Thanks! Charlotte

Peg,
Luttre is roughly half way between the Belgian cities of Nivelles and
Charleroi. Both are due south of Brussels. Not quite sure where the
provinces abut, but think your Luttre is in the Province of Hainaut.

Charlotte checked the Ellis Island web site and found no ART, RENE as an

AERTS - no Rene - but a good # from Belgium but no Rene or the children.
Did not find a Rene DE ART or

Hi. I am looking for more information about my great uncle Thiophile
Simoens. He was born in Everbeek, Belgium and came to Canada about
1896. He was involved in acquiring land for people who wanted to come
to Canada. He returned to Belgium a few times and then stayed until he
died. I don't know what they called the men who did the job of
acquiring these lands for those who want to come to Canada. It is like
a land dealer. All help is appreciated. Thank you.

DeBliquy would be pronounced something like
duh - blik - ee
except with the final y a bit shorter than the ee of "yankee", for example.

I think this is part of a marriage record, but there are parts missing and
other parts which I do not yet understand.
As always with these texts, it is very difficult to copy the words
accurately unless you know what to expect and this is no exception.
Anne Peetermans was the wife and the husband's name would have appeared
earlier in the record. He was also probably called Peetermans as they seem
to have been related, perhaps as cousins.
What it seems to be saying is that the Banns had been read three t

willing to look at this picture to try to identify the couple? I have
scanned it into my computer and can e-mail a copy. Thanks in advance for
