Aye, it's all good stuff. Maybe not belonging properly to a genealogical website, but all good stuff nonetheless. Meanwhile, because we think we have a connection to the Eystons of East Hendred, there's a possibility that I may be descended from More. So I'd like to be called Your Holiness, please.
You are a fascinating and erudite woman. I am truly grateful for all the work you put in on the list. I also think you have the diplomatic skills of a Talleyrand, no matter what the brigade of malcontents says.
Yes. This means there WAS a virus. I got it from a correspondent on the SUFFOLK-LIST.
A reminder: DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW. AND DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS UNLESS YOU KNOW THEIR CONTENTS BEFOREHAND.
It is sad that these things are happening. Someone's idea of a joke causes untold problems.

Please note the explanation I sent out to the list earlier today. There IS a virus. DO NOT OPEN attachments from anyone you do not know. I wish the devil this hadn't happened. It is causing no end of trouble. But I picked the virus up quite innocently by opening an e-mail in violation of my own commandment.

At least one Tyrrell was an historical naughty boy. A fella by that name is said by some historians to have been the laddie who -- on orders of Richard III -- carried out the killings of the princes in the towers. Still others argue that Richard III was a lovely bloke, nice to his mum and a general credit to the human race.

History and genealogy, of course, are fascinating siblings. I remember reading once that the Duchess of Kent is a descendant of both Charles I and Oliver Cromwell. That's interesting about your Woodville connection? Perhaps you can trace back to the royal in-laws.

Eve, I beg to differ. Tyrrell was a historical figure. Shakespeare is certainly responsible for spreading the story that Richard Third was a wanker, but Master Tyrrell appears in several works about the deaths of the princes. He was said to have worked for the Constable of the Tower and to have strangled the lads in their beds and buried them under a staircase. Coincidentally or not, the skeletons of two young boys were found near a staircase in the tower in the 1700s. Some received opinion accepts them as
The thread reminds me of the old Peter Sellers' song: "They're Removing Father's Grave To Build A Sewer." Think we should have a rousing chorus.

Me too. Is it possible for someone outside of berkshire to help? I live

Please could some one give me the address to send for birth certificates for Windsor. I believe if one gets them in the district they only cost #6. 50. New Windsor----Clewer----Wokingham------Reading------Spital.
Thanks

Thanks Jill for this information. I will try SAG as you suggest and also
ask around. Now that I know it exists, I may find someone who knows of it.
Often the problem is that one does not know what exists.
Good luck with your searches.

Janet - [I too am Welsh] - I agree entirely with you. This List would be
much the poorer if Eve was not on it. We are all extremely lucky that Eve
contributes as she does. She is exceptionally knowledgeable. I didn't see
the message, which caused the upset but it quite easy to interpret something
differently in an email, as I did on the Oxfordshire list two days ago.

Hi Don
I have a William Bristow and Priscilla Kimber married in White Waltham,
Berks 15/10/1789. Priscilla is actually stated as Timber. So you helped me
out by trying to figure out what her name was. As there are no Timbers
around.
I don`t know anymore about her yet.

Hello Hugh
Thanks for this
At present these SLADES (Francis b.c1826 & Richard b.c1833) don't fit into
what I have, but may well when I get further back on other branches
I'm not sure about Mary either but will keep it for future reference
Sooner or later I'm sure all these SLADE's will fit together

Hi all,
Would SKS be able to do a marriage look up for me please on the North
Berkshire marriage index.
John BUNCE and Jane, this should be around 1720 in the Stanford in the
Vale area.
Kind Regards
Dave Allen
Kerri,
The marriage is easy from the Oxfordshire Marriage Index:
PHIPPS Charles at OX St Ebbe to CROZIER Mary Ann on 1829 14 Jan
The 1851 (transcribed and indexed by Oxfordshire Family History Society)
gives Mary Ann's birth place as Oxford St. Aldate. Oxford City has a baptism
Index 1800 to 1837 which gives:
1807 5 Aug CROZIER Mary Ann d. James & Mary born 10 July
Hugh Kearsey

Hi Marilyn,
Intrigued to see your comment on the number of KINES on IGI. Although I have
no personal interest in the KINE name your reply has caused me to
wonder.....
Is there some sort of index/list to the IGI.....can I look and see the
number of other names and if so, how do I go about it?
Thanks for your help

That is because the civil registration district covers a number of
parishes, of which Faringdon is only one. The simplest way to get the
information is to buy this certificate, which will show w
