7. [BIRD-L] Fallacies found! Errors in "source" about Bird family of CT (d. 1662) [1]
Hello Birds, I located a copy of the 1882 Porter Genealogy last spring at the Library of Congress. This book, often cited as a credible source of information about Thomas Bird of Hartford, CT, is entitled "The Descendants of John Porter of Windsor, CT" by Col. Joshua Porter, M.D. (printed for the compilers by George W. Ball, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 1882.) This particular publication appears to be the likely source of several persistent factual errors regarding the parents of James and Joseph Bird of
8. [BIRD-L] More information about "Goodman Birde" of Hatfield Broad Oak; John Birde? [1]
In my last post, I described some entries in the account book of Sir Thomas Barrington that identify a "Goodman Birde the Basketmaker" who left for New England sometime shortly after April 26, 1637 from Hatfield Broad Oak, Essex. The entries were found in: Sir Thomas Barrington's Account Book Bk. II.f.21. E.R.O. D/DBa.A2 Sir Thomas Barrington's Account Book Bk. II.f.29. verso E.R.O. 13. Re: [BIRD-L] John Bird, son of Philemon and Mary Macguire [1]
Patti, thanks for putting your information on the list. I find it interesting that you have John Bird, son of Philemon and Mary Macguire, as being in Washington County, TN by 1774 (when he married Mary Polly Rymel), and I'm thinking that you are correct. Other researchers have John Bird Sr., of Franklin County, VA as the son of Philemon and Mary Macguire. But, because his brother, Samuel, never appeared in records as the son of Philemon and Mary, and neither one named any children Philip or Phil

15. [BIRD-L] Baltimore Co. Land Records [1]
Hello Everyone, This message below came across my radar screen -- Birds in Baltimore Co. records before 1687. Some other familiar names here too. I think the Choates were still in Anne Arundel at this point. Has anyone seen this book? Is this the source of Danny's info below: 27 April 1683 - John & Elizabeth Bird of Bush River, Baltimore Co., MD to Benjamin Bennett of Gunpowder River, Balt. Co., MD, 50 acrea...Gunpowder River...line of Thomas Preston, Edward Reeves and John Collett. Signed John (x)

In a message dated 9/21/2003 12:38:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Dbyrd000@aol.com writes: << Maybe we had a Bird or two stray down to Georgia along with the Heards from Pittsylvania? >> Isaiah Christopher Bird was born in 1818 in Fairfield District, SC and died about 1879 location unknown. In the 1840s he was in GA at least until the Civil War. There are no known siblings although there were a great many Birds. Still a brickwall, Rosebird
17. [BIRD-L] Birds in E. TN [1]
I think we have at least two different Bird/Byrd families in east Tennessee in the late 1700's. The German Birds and some of the English Byrds. It will take some doing but I think we can distinguish between, at least some of them. If what was in the book, "Eighteenth Century Emigrants, Vol. I, The Northern Kraichgau", by Annette Kunselman Burgert, is true, then she had the German Birds separated from the others, and according to her, Lewis Bird was one of the German Birds. The book states these Birds emig

20. [BIRD-L] Byrd/Bird Info [1]
For those of you who have not already sent me a SASE for copies of the Bird/Byrd info I compiled on the different Thomas, Francis, John, Samuel, William, Abraham, Andrew, etc. Birds/Byrds and some Armstrongs and Choates, please send a large 9 x 12 (or something similar) envelope with enough stamps to cover the postage for 38 pages. It turned out to be longer than I had originally thought. To those of you who have already sent envelopes, the info went out today. Glenda
21. Re: [BIRD-L] Bird & Abraham Lincoln Connection [1]
Patrisha, Are there any records proving that this John Bird actually resided in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1782. The John Bird that I am familiar with of Pittsylvania remained there in that area for many years past 1782 according to records if I am not mistaken. If this John Bird was there during this same time frame, then there were not only several Johns in Pittsylvania, but possibly two or three Bird families that may or may not be related. At this time, I only know of two Bird families
22. Re: [BIRD-L] Bird/ Standerfer/Heard [1]
Glenda, I also think that there's a Heard/Bird connection, but still can't figure it out. -- Marla (p353) Jesse Heard of Wilkes Co., Ga, 10/1/1800, to Stephen Heard (Herd) of Jackson Col, Ga 1,402 acres on Beaver Creek. 24. [BIRD-L] Thomas Bird [1]
Does anyone know who the following Thomas Bird was???? It was certainly in the right area and time frame to be the Thomas Bird who died 1805 in Robertson Co., TN. Could have been one of those sent over here from the prison in England. "Thomas Bird, servant man of Joseph Robinson, 27 Nov 1751 in Augusta County, Virginia". Thanks, Glenda
