There was a Richard Byrd who died 29 April 1817 in Lincoln Co., TN.
Apparently his wife was already dead. Adm. of Estate was Joel Pinson.
Rebecky Byrd, Polly Byrd & Elliford Byrd were listed as infant children of
Richard Byrd. Estate to Elizabeth Sanders for nursing & boarding children
from 15 April 1814 to 15 March 1816. His Will was recorded 27 Jan 1824.

Submitted by a Sisson cousin for consideration. Does anyone recognize this
Bird? Thanks, Kathleen
My earliest known Bird ancestor was Hiram Bird who was
born in 1790 in S.C. My earliest known Winn ancestor was John
Wynn/Wynne/Winn who married in 1802, Elizabeth Harris. My closer
relatives spell the name WYNN. My grandfather was James Washington
Wynn, Sr.
In addition to what Danny has so graciously sent to the list, I will add the

on the different John, Francis, Andrew, Thomas, William, etc. Birds, to send
me a SASE. If you have not already sent one, please don't until further
notice as I'm having my computer room remodeled and all of my genealogy

Thanks.

Hello Birds,
I located a copy of the 1882 Porter Genealogy last spring at the Library of
Congress. This book, often cited as a credible source of information about
Thomas Bird of Hartford, CT, is entitled "The Descendants of John Porter of
Windsor, CT" by Col. Joshua Porter, M.D. (printed for the compilers by
George W. Ball, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 1882.)
This particular publication appears to be the likely source of several
persistent factual errors regarding the parents of James and Joseph Bird of
In my last post, I described some entries in the account book of Sir Thomas

Essex. The entries were found in:

They lived in St Clair Co.,IL where all of their children were born (oldest

Patti, thanks for putting your information on the list. I find it
interesting that you have John Bird, son of Philemon and Mary Macguire, as
being in Washington County, TN by 1774 (when he married Mary Polly Rymel),
and I'm thinking that you are correct.
Other researchers have John Bird Sr., of Franklin County, VA as the son of
Philemon and Mary Macguire. But, because his brother, Samuel, never appeared
in records as the son of Philemon and Mary, and neither one named any
children Philip or Phil
Hello Everyone,
This message below came across my radar screen -- Birds in Baltimore Co.
records before 1687. Some other familiar names here too. I think the Choates
were still in Anne Arundel at this point.
Has anyone seen this book? Is this the source of Danny's info below:

Isaiah Christopher Bird was born in 1818 in Fairfield District, SC and died
about 1879 location unknown. In the 1840s he was in GA at least until the Civil
War. There are no known siblings although there were a great many Birds.

I think we have at least two different Bird/Byrd families in east
Tennessee in
the late 1700's. The German Birds and some of the English Byrds. It will
take
some doing but I think we can distinguish between, at least some of them. If
what was in the book, "Eighteenth Century Emigrants, Vol. I, The Northern
Kraichgau", by Annette Kunselman Burgert, is true, then she had the German
Birds separated from the others, and according to her, Lewis Bird was one
of the German Birds. The book states these Birds emig
For those of you who have not already sent me a SASE for copies of the
Bird/Byrd info I compiled on the different Thomas, Francis, John, Samuel,
William, Abraham, Andrew, etc. Birds/Byrds and some Armstrongs and
Choates, please send a large 9 x 12 (or something similar) envelope with
enough stamps to cover the postage for 38 pages. It turned out to be longer
than I had originally thought.
To those of you who have already sent envelopes, the info went out today.

Patrisha,
Are there any records proving that this John Bird actually resided in
Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1782. The John Bird that I am familiar with of
Pittsylvania remained there in that area for many years past 1782 according to
records if I am not mistaken. If this John Bird was there during this same
time frame, then there were not only several Johns in Pittsylvania, but possibly
two or three Bird families that may or may not be related. At this time, I
only know of two Bird families
Glenda, I also think that there's a Heard/Bird connection, but still can't
figure it out. -- Marla

Does anyone know who the following Thomas Bird was???? It was certainly
in the right area and time frame to be the Thomas Bird who died 1805 in
