Looking for info on Charles Black born in th 1860's in Henry Co. Iowa son
of John M. and Rachael Black. Wife named Liza possibly lived in Ottumwa
& or Floris Iowa.
I have a good history of the BLACKS OF BREICH WATER which were BLACKS which
originated in Argyll until chased out by the Campbells!! Our branch came to
LANARKSHIRE and the LOTHIANS. If anyone has any queries about BLACKS from
around there I will try to help and hopefully in doing so, fill in some
blanks!

HI...I was looking thru my g-grandmother's trunk, an actual old trunk and found a bible dated 1823. It's not a family bible, it's just a leather bound 6"x3-4 inch bible. In the back it stated Garret Cody was born in December 1822 and died in 1823. Now I'm about 99.9 % sure this either has to come from my Gould side or my Black side. But as of yet I haven't ran into any Cody's. There is also a name written in the front of the bible it starts with a G possible Glany's, Glady's or something along those

Many family members doing genealogy work seem to hit a dead end with the
family's eldest member, James Black, born approximately 1790, location
unknown, and who died in Livingston County Missouri in June 1848. James
married Ellenor Call of Pennsylvania, born December 1798, and who died in
Cloverdale, Sonoma County, California on August 30, 1872.
Any assistance in finding information on James, Ellenor or their children
would be greatly appreciated. Here's some specific info on them;
