Looking for history on my family. My fathers name was Ernest Edward Black, his Father was John Black, married to Amanda Saine Black. According to other family, they were from Dahlonega, Ga., and burried in the Mt. Zion cemetaries. According to family, they owned a mountain north of Dahlonega that was called Black's mountain, until it was taken from them. Her great grandfather was Leebert Ross Black. Born on May 10, 1898 in Greenup, Illinois. He married Nellie May Hill on Sept. 27, 1918. She was born April 18, 1899 in Greenup, Illinois. Leebert died December 11, 1977 in Frankfort, Indiana. Nellie died in October 12, 1989 in Charleston, Illinois in Cole County. My wife grandfather is Charles Eugene Black, born in Casey, Illinois. Hi Margaret. I found the birth record of Matilda on the LDS web site. Not sure if it's the right person but it looks very likely. The birth date is 1853 in King Twp. This coincides with the information on the 1891 census. What was your grandmothers name, it may ring a bell with anything else I find about the family. Julie, There was a Pliny Black in Habersham Co., Ga. in the 1850 census among my Blacks. Also find him in Rutherford Co., NC earlier. E-mail me @macamajon@aol.com would love to share info with you.
I dunno if i am related to you but i do know in the "Black" blood lines generally we have heart problems and are susceptable to having early deaths mainly if you are in bloodlines though with Cherokee i am sorry i can not help you more than that but i hope you find your family

Thank you for replying to my message as there is a good chance the John Black you mentioned is my great-grandfather as I just found out the family came from near Aurora and that could be King Township. John Black was married to Mathilda Edwards and my grandfather is Albert. I know he had a number of brothers and that is all I know. Do you have any other information that might help me verify?
