Looking for history on my family. My fathers name was Ernest Edward Black, his Father was John Black, married to Amanda Saine Black. According to other family, they were from Dahlonega, Ga., and burried in the Mt. Zion cemetaries. According to family, they owned a mountain north of Dahlonega that was called Black's mountain, until it was taken from them. Hi Margaret. I found the birth record of Matilda on the LDS web site. Not sure if it's the right person but it looks very likely. The birth date is 1853 in King Twp. This coincides with the information on the 1891 census. What was your grandmothers name, it may ring a bell with anything else I find about the family.
