Sherrill,
Please tell us more about David Black, the Revolutionary War Soldier who moved from Rowan County NC to Alabama. I've been searching for someone of that name in relation to my Alexander Black who was born in AL in 1795. The only mention that I've found of David Black in NC is that he was a bondsman on a marriage application. I would appreciate it if you could steer me in the right direction. Thank you,

DELETE WITHOUT OPENING IT.
I know that we're not supposed to post this kind of thing to the mailing
lists, but just wanted to warn everyone. This is the first time that
this virus has shown up in my email, so I'm

notifying me and others of her E-mail address change.
I am sure there are more BLACK related relatives on this list. Would
enjoy hearing from you to fill in the missing information. Here is what

Minnie Stowe Puett's History Gaston Co, NC is not a reliable source for
Black family history. I own a copy of this book which my aunt purchased
from Mrs. Puett's sister, whom she knew. Apparently she just lumped all the
Blacks together and assumed a lot. I have all the deeds for the Black
family from Lincoln Co records. I do not have the Tryon Co grants, etc. for
Black. You should look at Brent Holcomb's book on this subject. A David
Black did get married in Lincoln Co, but he was from across the Cata

Carol Jean - where did you get the infomation that David Black was father of
Thomas Black, part of whose family was settled at Cherryville, Gaston Co,
NC. - and that he also had sons John & William???
I don't think Thomas Black died in what is now Gaston Co. However, since
Gaston Co was not created until 1846 from Lincoln Co. you should correct
your database to reflect the correct counties.
I believe the facts are that Thomas Black moved his family over to what is
now Rutherford (and maybe Burke) County
