Yes! I've been hoping to hear from you. I had been to Ohio to verify if Mary was a family member. One day isn't enough time to search and the census records at that time didn't list names. I've been collecting marriage records and death records here in Allegan of the Blackman family. An Elijah Blackman was a witness of Samuel and Marys' marriage on 3 Jun.1845. She and James were members of the Historical Society in 1895 and both claimed to come to Allegan on 23 May 1841 after stating their birth date
Joe Baker - Just noticed your reply. Thanks so much! I can't wait to hear about Phebe and her family. She died at Nauvoo, Illinois (they were Mormons) about 1842-43, but her husband, Enos McNall, and some of her children ended up just south of Scott County, Iowa, in Rock Island County, Illinois. Phebe named one of her sons Philo, after her brother I see. Now I find that Enos listed Ephraim Blackman as a relative in Mormon records. I'm from her daughter Rosina (1833). Thanks for sharing and looking f

I am wondering where the Blackman Cemetery you refer to is located? I know of one located here:
Grand Traverse County, Paradise Township, Section 20, Summit City, Michigan
If this is the one you refer to it contains the remains of many of my ancestors. I would love to compare notes.

Roveta and Others,
I have been reading with interest your messages in researching the BLACKMAN family of NC.
I have a Luther Blackman GAUTIER that I have been unable to locate any history on. What I do know is--he was born in Faison, Duplin County, NC, probably in 1880s. He married Lula Mae GAUTIER born in Clinton, Sampson County. They had at least 9 children born 1906+.
Could he be related to the BLACKMAN line that you are all referring to? Any information is appreciated. Willing to share.
Thanks
Seeking information on forebears of Elizabeth Blackman, daughter of Marietta Newbern and James Henthorne. She was born in Marengo, Iowa, on July 4, 1878, and died in 1960. She was known to be living in Spokane, Wash., in 1911, where her mother died. She had a brother, J. Birch Henthorne, born in Marengo on May 18, 1882, and died on June 16, 1970.
Elizabeth's mother, Mary Etta or Marietta, was born in 1844, and died in Spokane, Wash., in 1911. Her father, James Henthorne, was born in Indiana on Jan. 1, 183
Researching the life of one Mr. Robert Blackman, who in 1883 joined a contingent of settlers from western New York and Pennsylvania, which departed from Bradford, PA and travelled by train to Plum Creek, Dawson County, Nebraska on or about 16 APR 1883 and then overland by horseback and wagon to Section 33, TWP 9, Range 25 in the southwest corner of Dawson County. The group established the settlement of 'Keystone' which was in existence from 1883-1886 until they picked up lock, stock, and barrel and moved
