I call this meeting of the 1999-2000 session of the USGenWeb Advisory Board
to order and ask that each member of the Board respond by saying: present
or here.
Thanks,
Tim Stowell
National Coordinator
Sorry, but RootsWeb staff doesn't change them until they have been asked.
There is no slap in the face or anything underhanded in this.

But by "neutral third party" I am assuming Mr Smoot wants some one other
than USGW people on the election committee and running the election -- much
as Price-Waterhouse does for the Oscar nominations and balloting.
We are not that big, important, and rich to afford to hire an outside
contractor to run our elections.
Jim's proposal has some merit, if there were 4 people on the election
committee, three would set up receiving stations for the ballots on three
different servers. At the close of ballot
The following was sent to the State Coordinator's list. Since we are all
subbed to that list, I presume you've seen it.

Hi guys. I'm back online with my new computer. My comments on the COGenWeb
situation:
As has been pointed out, we cannot dictate or "direct" RootsWeb to do
anything. They are within thier rights to do as they wish with the
~cogenweb directory name. However, the fact that they "can" does not mean
that they "should". The XXGenWeb designation should be reserved exclusively
for the use of the USGenWeb Project, as we specify in our bylaws. Is
RootsWeb bound by our bylaws? Of course not, but as good neigh
Alright, then, I'll *second* the motion .

Before you ask, I realize that I was unclear... by results I
meant as each vote was cast it would be sent to 3 places to
be stored rather than one.

Just so you all know, I am visiting my Mother in South Carolina and
don't have the software or ftp program I need to update the pages. I
will be home by the weekend and will take care of it then. Sorry for
the delay.

I move that Motion 99-2 be rescinded and that the Board appoint a
secretary for the one year term of Board II or until dismissed by Board
II or a succeeding Board. Further,
1. That the secretary nominee be selected from among the volunteer
membership of the USGenWeb Project.
2. That the nominee to this position not be currently serving as a
Board member.
3. That the nominee be nominated by the National Coordinator and
appointed by a majority vote of a quorum of the Board. Rejection of an

NOT PART OF THE MOTION:
On a personal note, I would like to commend Tim on
his choice. I don't think he could have done better if

I agree with your comments, Ginger. Ed is an excellent choice for secretary.
Congratualtions, Tim.

I'd like to propose to the Board that we move almost all talking to Board-L
with the exception of the following items.
Items to be Discussed on Exec:
1. Grievances brought by members through their elected representatives
2. Complaints about sites - so as not to injure the reputation of the CC
whose site is being complained about
3. Notices to fellow Board members of being out of town - protection from
folks who might be looking for 'I'm going to be out of town messages' so as
to select one's property fo
