2. RE: [BOARD-L] INFORMAL - Policy amended. [1]
No. The by-laws specify that the NC is responsible for day-to-day decision making within the project. Since we own no assets and have no money, I don't see there being any financial commitment that would come under the heading of day-to-day operations - the NC would be precluded from making unilateral decisions about finances anyway. And I can think of no membership commitment that should be an "emergency". Angie Rayfield SEMA SC Representative On Tue, 20 Sep 2005 14:28:14 -0600, Mike St. Clair/

6. Parliamentarian [1]
In my list of appointments I named Josh Taylor as Parliamentarian. (I will post Josh's qualifications below). Historically, here on the AB, the Parliamentarian has been an advisor to the National Coordinator and it was necessary for an AB member to go through the NC to ask a question of the parliamentarian. When I spoke with Josh I asked him if he would be willing to not only be my advisor but also be willing to answer questions from other board members. Josh assured me he would be. Although he will still p

9. Informal- SOP-Dear Alice [1]
The first SOP is PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY. My thought on this is that most, if not all of us have Dear Alice so it makes sense to keep Strugis, but Robert's Rules of Order Rev 10 has some items that cover on-line meetings. Maybe we can combine the two? Dear Alice for most things but Robert's for on-line. 11. RE: [BOARD-L] INFORMAL: Board Secretary [1]
Like David, I think it would take a new motion to call for volunteers. My personal preference would be for us to change the procedure to work like this: Solicitation of volunteers to conclude a week after the new NC is known (election or runoff) Private discussion of the candidates by the AB and NC Nomination of preferred individual by the NC Approval by the AB I appreciate Linda's research to find that motion describing the selection process and Jeff's suggestion wording of a special procedure covering

Not without a vote of the AB they won't. A previous AB voted to use Sturgis. So Sturgis is the official PP until we vote to use something else, or vote to eliminate PP altogether. I've had a complaint that expulsion goes too far. What if the SC does not agree? Some people agree with my original idea to remove them from the voting list. That would take care of the abuse on the national level. It would be up to the SC whether or not they decide to expell the CC at their level, once they are notified. While the vote is taking place in the Formal meeting I'd like to make a comment or two and ask some questions. It's been about 4 weeks now since Sep 1st and the beginning of this AB's term. During that time I was late opening the meeting, I asked you to try to use a new meeting format (without a separate list), I was gone for 2 weeks, and before we could hardly take a deep breath we had to deal with a left over grievance, the challenge to George's seat, the FGS gift and now the MNIGS issue.
