1. Benjamin & Jesse Bowles + Duggins & Duley, Hanover Co., VA, ca. 1831 [1]
Rootsweb's Personalized Mailing List sent this family tree (below) to me on 14 June 03. I wrote to Marcia to ask her if I could forward it to the Bowles list and she granted her permission. The surnames in this tree are ones which have come up before; I have the feeling that this might be one of those which serves as a pivotal one, connecting many of our ancestors. What I'm going to do is go through my own personal notes on our allied surnames to see who I've written down as "owning" them. This me

17. Bowles: Jeffries, Hitt, Holtzclaw, Kemper & Payne in Fauquier Co., VA [1]
My cousin, Susan Ward, sent me this intriguing tidbit. As almost everyone has memorized by now, my ggggrandfather, Benjamin Bowles, married Elizabeth Jeffries in Barren Co., KY in 1810. So we've been trying to nail down the Bowles and Jeffries families' states and counties, before they came to KY. We keep getting hints that the state was VA, but there were an awful lot of Bowles and counties in VA. If anyone knows more about these families, please let me know. I did write to her and say that ye

I am trying to update this family line in time for a Boles family reunion on July 19. I am wondering if anyone has further information on this particular family line. I just got this information from Suzanne Matson (scmatson@alltel.net) who's been researching the Holtzclaws for some time. She's gone to the trouble to outline where the Holtzclaws lived in VA and where they went...pertaining to the small abstract of a will that Susan Ward found. I was wondering if anyone on our list has any connection to these allied surnames, or to the counties where the Holtzclaws migrated. I'm still trying to get more information on John F. (Jacky) Bowles who married Malinda
