We still have John and Ann as a maybe father of Elijah Bowles.I have added
another possibable, Benjamin Bowles that had land in Henrico Co. I believe
him to be Benjamin Bowles that married Mary Webber in Goochland Co 1744.
Thomas Bowles b.1733, probable not. Gideon Bowles d. 1796. probable not. Not
mention in either will. David Bowles, another maybe. David mentions a
lawsuit family in his 1806 will. Elijah had money in 1809. David named his

Thomas Phillip Bowles family came to Barren Co, KY before Elijah Bowles came
to Barren Co. Thomas Phillip was born 1748 and Elijah born 1751. They could
be brothers. Thomas Phillip died in Hanover Co 1795, Sarah left Hanover Co
about 1802 with the family. What I have a problem with is this Goochland
Co,Va marriage record and the first three or four children listed as Thomas
and Sarah children? Are they Elijah's children by a first marriage? These
children were in the company of Sarah during their stay

Does anyone know anything about the genealogy of the author Emily Bowles of England in the mid-1800's who wrote such books as "The History of England", "Irish Diamonds" and "A Sister's Story"? She was an active member of the Oxford Movement in England which was a move from the Church of England back towards Catholic doctrine which was a very brave position to take in the mid-1800's. I just obtained an 1865 copy of Irish Diamonds, have found it fascinating reading and would like to know if she is connected

The Y-DNA test is only valid for tracing male ancestors of the Bowles

Bill,
If Sarah Bowles had a brother, and you can trace male Bowles
descendents from that brother, then one of them could test and it
might help you with her ancestors.
There is also a test that follows the maternal line, but it will not
help you unless Sarah is in

ESTHER, wife of JOHN POWELL, was also therefore an aunt of THOMAS BOWLES;
and the cousins, ANN, DORCAS BATTERS, and DIANA, were also her children,
since they were not Mary Smith's children.
This is from first post refering to Thomas Bowles Will 1718. This is
claiming that Thomas Bowles cousins Ann, Dorcas Batters, and Diana are
children of ESTHER, wife of JOHN POWELL. Not so. They are the children of
John Waite, Henry Bowles half brother. Dorcas had married Thomas Batters.
Leathel,
Who are the parents of Elijah Bowles born 1751? I have been taking a closer
look at the information I have on Elijah.I know there has been some DNA done
of some lines going back to Elijah, but who are his parents? Here are some
possibably parents for Elijah.
1. John and Mary Bowles that were in Middlesex Co in the 1740-50'.
2. John and Ann that was in St Peter Parish, New Kent Co in 1730's. There is
a possibablity this is same family? Don't think so. Because John and Ann had
a son Thomas born 1733 and
